I am making principal payments on both my student loan debt and my mortgage this week. How long should I wait for it to be reflected in my credit score?

I am going to refinance a 5/1 ARM to a 30 year fixed (with hopefully no prepayment penalty), noticed that interest rates are very low, but would like to wait until any improvements in my credit score occur.

How do I get the best deal on a refinance? I have had the 5/1 ARM with an out-of-state bank the past couple years, there is a local mortgage company that has gotten very good reviews, and I heard Penfed is a good option. Should I contact all 3 and compare the points/loan fees + rates?

I think I found the answer, apparently companies report to the credit bureau once/month, so it could be up to this time for the credit score to update, depending on what day of the month they submit. I noticed my other questions were unclear so I made a new post with more details.
