What is the last thing you ordered from Amazon?

These are good kit. Have a mechanical Simplex Lock mechanism. Very reliable.

The pistol cases are great for hotel rooms to keep your valuables in if you don't trust the little safes in the room - the ones that everybody who works there can open in milliseconds.

Easy to secure in a room with cable and lock.

Pro Tip - don't ever forget your combo as these things require the right tools to get opened up. .... Don't ask me how I know...

This one is actually for the truck

What do you cable and lock them to in a hotel room?

Bed Frame, humungous table, Window Frames, etc., or the little safe in the wall by running cable thru the space in hinges. Main thing is to make it so much trouble to steal or haul off - the basturds go away....to easier pickings...

We also loop our pooters thru/on the cable.

Since on days off - we usually go to the Casino's so Ms. gamboolgal and I can play the pokerzzz...... - we have a good bit of cash, jewelry and stuff....

We have had items stolen in years past, also know at least 3 separate folks personally who have had several thousand in cash stole....

The years of us traveling light - was decades ago......

This is the most recent thing I wanted to, but did not order from Amazon.

My external monitor died. I decided to buy another at Amazon. Prime 2 day eligible. In the checkout, it gives me a delivery date of Oct 30. That’s 5 days, not 2 (order date is Oct 25 at 9 am). So I check the 1 day option, and it says Oct 27 delivery. That’s next day, but only if we start counting tomorrow.

I bought the monitor from B&H Photo. Same price, 2 day delivery. Except, they count days differently than Amazon, and their 2 days arrives the same time as Amazon’s 1 day.

I’ve seen this before with Amazon. Shipping costs must be harsh on their bottom line. Redefining calendar day delivery time, though, isn’t going to help in the long run.

Zinus Memory Foam 12 Inch / Premium / Ultra Plush / Cloud-like Mattress, King

We bought a much cheaper one for granddaughters visits, and so happy with that that we are upgrading master mattress. WAY less than mattress stores. We shall see if happy or not.

I agree. I order tens of thousands of dollars worth of stuff through Amazon for my side business, and I've been seeing this more and more often. The 2 day delivery is pretty much meaningless if it only starts when they actually ship the item.

I recently ordered a couple of $3K audio components for my customer. The product page showed them as "in stock and prime eligible with 2 day delivery". I also ordered a bunch of other items, which were all delivered in 2 days. But the audio components kept showing up as "preparing for shipment" with an expected delivery date that had already passed. Finally, a week or so later I got a message that the delivery was going to be delayed, no ETA. The product page was still showing "in stock, 2 day delivery". I contacted Amazon twice, but was basically talking to myself. No help, no explanation. I finally found the items available on Apple's website and ordered them. Of course I then got a shipping notification from Amazon, so I cancelled the Apple order. The items were finally delivered, followed on the same day by another Amazon notification that they were being delayed.

It's obvious that Amazon has outgrown it's own systems and can't keep up. My biggest complaint was that they were still showing the item as "in stock, 2 day delivery" when they were pushing 2 weeks of delay. I get 5% cashback on my Amazon card, which is a nice perk with all the buying I do. If not for that I'd drop them way down on my list of companies to do business with. And yes, B&H is a great company, but no cashback option other than what my credit card offers.

If you look at order when ordering, it "usually" says order within so many hours and minutes to get 2 day delivery.Like this on an item in my cart today.

Guaranteed delivery date: Oct. 27, 2017 If you order in the next 11 hours and 47 minutes (Details)

If they don't deliver on 27th, I can chat online and they will offer to extend my Prime membership 1 month, a $8.25 value. I did this last week for the first time(and I feel it was the post office who was late, not Amazon)
Maybe this help some with the pain for less than 2 day shipping. Some items cut off at 9 or 10 am for 2 day shipping in my experence.
YMMV
I dislike Amazons politics but love thier customer service. Again, YMMV

This has happened to me twice. Both times I chatted with customer service and was upgraded to free one-day delivery.

Caveat: We buy almost everything from Amazon, so maybe I get excellent customer service because of that! I also always mention to them that I’m also a stockholder. :)

When I was fighting with them about the audio components they said multiple times that that guarantee is meaningless. If you look at the (Details) part it has some weasel words in it that get them out of it. To me a guarantee would be "or your money back" or something like that. I have Prime all the time forever (or until I shut down my company), so adding a month or giving me $10 toward a Pantry purchase (that I don't use) is pretty worthless.

As I said earlier, the part that really burned me was that while my order was delaying daily for over two weeks, they still showed "in stock, guaranteed two day delivery" on the product page. If they'd have updated it to say something like "product shipping may be delayed" or something truthful I wouldn't have been so pissed. But I feel like they were consciously misleading people into buying something they knew they couldn't deliver.

Having said that, I also ordered something yesterday for a customer, and it had a two day guarantee. I ordered it yesterday afternoon and it was delivered this morning at 8 am(ish). When they are on, they are amazing. I just wish they were a little more honest/transparent when they know they can't deliver.

At the risk of hikacking the thread, I contacted Amazon about the 5 day shipping they call 2 day. Their response was super flaky. One of the excuses they gave is “fulfillment center too far away”. I’m following up with them on that, because the Prime agreement doesn’t say “2 to 5 days depending on location”.

That's one of the excuses they pulled out for me too. I asked which fulfillment center it was coming from, the one on the moon? No answer.

The reason it is taking so long for MichaelB's package to arrive, is that they are busy shipping my Prime Pantry box.

I ordered it less than 44 hours ago, and it is already in New Orleans, ready to be delivered by UPS tomorrow. :D This despite the fact that we don't even have a fulfillment center in Louisiana according to that list. It came all the way from Dallas.

I guess it would be juvenile to smirk and say, "When you got it, you got it!" :ROFLMAO: Sorry, just joking! I know it is so aggravating to get packages later than expected.

Ordered a shirt from LLBean and a book from Indigo.

Buying less and less in retail, more and more either on line or from Costco (warehouse and on line)_

I know it is so aggravating to get packages later than expected.

In my case, I didn't mind that it was late. Things happen. My issue was the bait and switch aspect of them knowing there was a significant (2 weeks) delay, but the product page still was saying "in stock, 2 day guaranteed delivery. I understand problems, but I don't like dishonesty.

Edit: And that's the end of that from me. Enough whining.

They sure have a lot of fulfillment centers. Here's a list:

Amazon Fulfillment Center Locations
With so many, you'd think they would have found a way to minimize this issue.

My complaint is not the time it takes, but the way they deliberately manipulate the time to mislead the customer. I agree with Harley, it's dishonest.

Same here. I followed up, they responded with more doubletalk and nonsense. Time to move on. One thing for sure, there will never be a shortage of options to buy stuff in the good ol' USA.

Enough of the mini-hijack. Y'all can get back to what you are buying from Amazon. :)

A printer cartridge for the Canon PRO-100 photo printer. Ordered yesterday, arrived today. Go figure.

I replaced our 12" non-stick Allclad skillet. After 15 years of use it wasn't very non-stick for delicate items like eggs. Since it's primary duty was bacon and eggs something was going to change.

The new ones just like the old one only non-stick.

B&H is a good supplier for computer and camera equipment. They usually package these items much better than Amazon as well.
