We have been [-]pulling teeth [/-]getting estimates for replacing the wood trim around our front door and second-story foyer window, with any of various materials, including wood and AZEK (a PVC product).
NOTE: While all the contractors we've interviewed spoke English, only one of them seemed to have English as his first language. Except for that one, the others' surnames have been Spanish or Greek. I mention this since I feel it may be relevant to my question. (I don't mean to imply that it has anything to do with the contractors' ability to do the job).
One estimate came in with different prices for AZEK, "red wood," and "threaded wood" (which was the cheapest). I searched for "threaded wood" but couldn't find anything about it as a construction material. Before I attempt to find out from the contractor himself (more teeth pulling, given the language issue), I wondered if anyone on the forum might know what it is.
Thanks,
Amethyst
