As in, if I tell it that my retirement year is 2012 (my devout desire) does it do its calculations on the idea that I will do it on January 1, on December 31, or something else? When I retire, I'll actually be doing it for pay purposes on Aug 1 or so. Perhaps I should have read this somewhere, but I didn't see it. Thanks!

I believe FIRECalc assumes Jan 1, so you may want to use 2013 since you'll be retiring in the latter half of 2012.

Won't really matter as FIRECalc was designed as a "measure with a micrometer, mark with a grease pencil and cut with an axe" when it comes to that level of precision... :)
