I had a GoodReads giveaway for an autographed copy of Drive, Ride, Repeat, and the winner is in India. I've asked him how he wants the autograph, but if I don't hear from him I need to figure out what to write.

His name is listed as Anil Kumar, but if I bring up his profile, it says "Kshitij Kumar’s Profile."

Anyone familiar with how names work in India?

Not really. When we went to India last year our national guide had the last name Jains which identified him as a member of a religious group.

His son was asked to do a presentation to Y Combinator this week. We are all praying he will be called back for the full program.

I popped the query off to an Indian friend. We shall see if he answers (I used Facebook message and don't know how closely he follows FB).

Here is my friend's answer but it won't resolve your problem:

Hi Don..hope all is well. It is possible that the person is using his middle name for the posts? Or it is also possible that anil could be his sons name. Kshitij and Anil are two distinct names.

Thanks, I went with Kshitij Kumar. It doesn't really matter.
