I'm sure those of you taking prescription drugs have kept an eye out for the ones going generic this year. I got a notice from my mail in pharmacy to check before ordering next time. I called and sure enough, Plavix is now available in it's generic form, clopidogrel. With my prescription mail order plan I was paying $150 for a 90 day supply. New cost for the generic is zero. I saw on a website that there are at least ten brand name drugs going genreic this year. Things are looking up.

Is there a website where I can find which drugs are going generic?

I can tell you for a fact that the FDA is covered up right now with all the paperwork and administrivia that comes with approval of generics. The tin-foil hat folks would suggest that the FDA is delibarately taking their own sweet time on the approvals so the big boys can milk exclusivity for as long as possible.

Here is a link showing some major ones going off patent, though you can google more. If you are taking certain medications Im sure you could just type in the name and when it can go generic. Of course things can change. I recently read somehow Pfizer was able to change the patent expiration on Viagra from this year to 2020. I don't need it now, but in 8 years, a lot can go wrong!
