What is the largest denomination bill you have either with you now or in your wallet/purse? Do not count hidden money.

100usd in my wallet -

However, I think I still have a 100,000 Lira note that I saved from one of my trips to Italy back in the late 90's. But I don't carry it around.

100 usd. But might take it out for safe keeping :)

I have a couple of $100s. One of those came from participating in a group discussion about how we chose our health insurance plan for 2015. It was a group of about 10 consumers with a moderator, 2 way mirror and hidden cameras.

It was very interesting and they paid us each $100 cash for participating.

Well, if we are talking foreign money... I have either a 1,000,000 or 10,000,000 note from some former soviet country (do not remember which) that I think is worthless.... I might have to go and see what I did with it...

I recently read a proposal to eliminate the $100 note to make it more difficult for criminals to hide $. Would it be feasible for Congress to recall all $100 notes by giving people a few years to exchange them for smaller denominations after which they would no longer be valid? That could wipe out some vast piles of dirty money.

Wish I could modify the poll to add an option of "no cash" but do not think you can do that after the poll has been created.

I've got a pocketful of 100,000 rupiah notes. That's the largest note printed in Indonesia. They're worth about $7.50 each.

At one point, living in Brazil, 5,000 was the smallest bill printed, and worth maybe $1 in US money at the time. It was always interesting to have wads of paper money around. But that was nothing compared to Peru at that time. People in Lima would carry a paper sack stuffed full of money just to buy lunch.

Very rarely do I have more than a $5 bill. I typically have several, along with some $1s, for a total of ~$35 or so.

Usually have a couple of $100's. Never know when a good cash deal will come up. Why do many people not like the $50 bill?

I have the same $20 in my wallet that I started the year with. I seem to have no need for cash these days.

I never like carrying anything bigger than $20 around. DH and I put nearly everything on credit cards, pay in full every month and get nice cash back rebates.

We live in a mostly blue-collar town; there are several Dollar Stores and a payday loan place, and the downtown is nearly all local businesses except for Wendy's. I can't find the exotic groceries I like in the local stores (e.g. curry paste) because that's not what people here buy. Anyway- I used the ATM in the grocery store to withdraw $200 and got a $100 and a mix of 20s and 10s. That never happened to me in our previous shop-till-you-drop suburb. To me, that $100 was a white elephant. Why use it to buy groceries when we could get $2 back from Amex? I finally put it into the church collection with a note asking that it be booked as a donation from us (so we had tax documentation).

According to my bank $50 is the most popular bill. They often run out. Lots of cash businesses around here.

and also clean money that people stash away and forget. That will teach them.

Mods/admins can do that, though, so I added it for you since you expressed a desire for it to be done.

I carry just a few dollars just in case, and like to use a credit card because I can then get a record of what I spend with Quicken auto-download.

I never get anything larger than a $20 from my bank ATM, even in the rare cases where I needed to draw up to my bank limit of $600.

I'd prefer to carry $50's over $20's, but not easy to find like $20's plus retailers seems suspicious of $50's. Ones are a waste of space. Usually carry between 100 & 200. The duplicate bridge club is cash only & a card seems a waste on transactions <$5.

Governments & banks are in cahoots to get rid of big bills to force card transactions & thus force people to keep electronic money accounts so they can charge you for the privilege of holding your money; i.e., negative interest rate.

It would be a pain carrying 30 $20's.

The only other time I had this happen was at an ATM in Las Vegas airport. I wanted $200, it spit out a couple of $100 bills. No, I did NOT head for the slots!
