The rain in Northern VA is beyond belief. Right now it's pretty much the worst I have seen in 29 years of living in this house. Our sewer at the street is over flowing in all directions. Our backyard looks like a lake. I am listening to my police scanner and just heard a FFX County cop talking about a boat launch on Hunter Mill Road to rescue trapped people. But they can't do it because there are downed power lines in the water. Apparently there are cars trapped in high water all over the area.

Between the "way too much water" and the "not nearly enough water" areas and the devastation that both are leaving, this has to be the cruelest summer on record.

I don't suppose it would help to look forward to your energy savings in the kitchen....

Woo-Hoo! Or maybe just HOOooooooo... In the last hour, we just tied our all-time record for the maximum number of triple-digit days in a season - 69, set in 1980. Tomorrow it's supposed to be well up in the 100's, and Wed. ~100-101, so will be a new record.

Well, if you're going to be really miserable all summer spring summer fall, at least set a record with it!

Yeah...it's hot in my hood too. We did have a couple of days when the high temps were in the 80s.

Our extended forecast shows the high temps dropping to around 90 degrees. It also shows a chance of rain every day...we'll see how that goes....

It is absolutely gorgeous here this week, with ideal temperatures (highs in the upper 80's, lows in the lower 70's). Humidity is low, and between the blue skies and brilliant sunshine one could get pretty euphoric. Even the percent chance of rain is low until the weekend. Even better, no hurricanes anywhere near us so far this summer.

It's enough to make someone like me a little wary. Luck only goes so far.

I would love to take 20-30 degrees from you. We will likely have frost the next 2 mornings.

It's 84degF. now in my kitchen, up from the 24 hour low of 74degF., and the humidity is 61%, with a 24 hour low of 54% and high of 77%. Outside is probably similar, since all my doors and windows are open, as always. Blue sky, fleecy clouds, sun is shining.

Same here. I could't have chosen a better week to have the house repainted. They need a couple more good days to finish repainting the deck. Fingers crossed.
