Here's a pic of DH with Tim Ries in March of 2009. They played some music together and had a great time. Tim plays with the Stones now...he's the one on the left. :)

The Doors' music still blows me away, even today! There was something very unique about Jim Morrison's voice and the keyboards. Amazingly, I get to hear Riders On The Storm at the gym----sounds like the original with some hip hop mixed into it. Not sure if Jim Morrison is turning over in his grave or whether he would like it....

Some clearly don't qualify for "back in the day" but using iTunes > Excel > Pivot Table - ain't technology grand! Number of songs isn't necessarily same as favorites, so I included honorable mentions beyond the top 20...

Trivia Question What was the name of John Kays band that had most of the Steppenwolf members before they formed Steppenwolf?

For Steppenwolf fans

When I was 14 and a real PITA at home we were all sitting around the living room after dinner – I was there by paternal executive order. They were watching tv and I was listening to my records with earphones on and speakers off. Steppenwolf, “The Pusher” was playing and without knowing it, I was singing the lyrics aloud. That is, until I saw everyone staring at me…

Hey, I'll have you know that the Allman Bros are still an incredibly kick-ass band. Possibly better than in "the day". Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks are two of the greatest guitar players extant, and they each also have their own band too. As a matter of fact, I'm going to see the Tedeschi/Trucks Band this Saturday. It may be better to burn out than to fade away, but it's even better to keep on trucking.

Beatles
CCR
Chicago
Santana
Fleetwood Mac

Also loved Carly Simon, Carole King, Joni Mitchell and Janis
