Military SBP, qualified plan?

87 year old DM receives monthly annuity from DFAS as survivor benefits. Is the SBP a qualified plan? Since it's a defined benefit plan, it would seem so. Looking for definitive answer... thanks..

I suspect it's not qualified, since military retirement pay is not and the SBP payments are coming from the same account. You should be able to get an answer with a phone call to DFAS.
