Close, but no cigar. It's a multi-chambered, ultra-high vacuum "reactor" for molecular beam epitaxial growth...

Say that ten times real fast!

Should make Rube Goldberg proud...

Yeah. But can it cook or does windows?:)

Very busy day today...I went to pick up a forgotten manual, then to the dollar store, then to Chinese buffet with former co-w*rkers after several months of skipping that.
It was fun :D to see folks again until they started grousing about w*rk. :( I really felt totally disconnected from the whole group (except for the other 2 retirees at the table) when that happened. We 3 just looked at each other and shrugged our shoulders. It was very odd. I can see why I hadn't joined the group for a while.
Mr B and I went for 25 cent wing night at a local Legion. Where else can 2 people eat dinner for $4 total (split 16 chicken wings between us) plus spend only $4 for 4 beers ? Very much in the Twilight Zone, indeed.
Ready for the pillow...zzzzzz

I bet though, the good thing about the grousing of the former co-w*rkers was that it reminded you that you are outta there! :) and FIRE'd.

Another Mr. Fixit day for me. My computer was starting to have heat issues (that graphics card couldn't tolerate the heat). I ending up having to clean off, then re-apply thermal grease. This cut the CPU heat from 60 degrees celsius to 45. My computer is happy now :D

Dawn patrol (fifth time in 10 days).

Toilet replacement.

More blogging and writing.

Tonight, unless our daughter comes home from her part-time job totally exhausted, we're doing taekwondo and then I'll watch her do another hour of kickboxing.

Her plan is to return to college totally surfed out, buff, and exhausted. The "problem" is that I'm getting sucked along in her turbulence...

Sold a house. It feels like a weight is off. There is still one contingent hanging, the environmental phase one assessment. It's a 1oo+ year old house. I hope I got the lead out.

Went to see Cirque du Soleil this evening, worth every penny. Put off by germain arena, charged 10 bucks for parking on top of ticket price. That is just highway robbery!

Queenie

Congratulations!! Good luck on the environmental assessment and I hope things move forward smoothly.

Every trip to a Cirque du Soleil performance is worth every penny. I never miss a chance to see a show.

My last attendance had a late show with parking set at six dollars. But in typical bureaucrat fashion only allowed the one teller only $50 in change. The first few cars went through, then the tens and twenties took their toll. Because it was the late show the banks were closed, no one could get change and there was only one teller. After three hours we were finally able to get out of the parkade. We ended up paying ten dollars just to escape the fiasco.

Super good time. My partner here is from New Orleans, and she was teaching me what she called "Second line dancing".
Wow....what a great pic....you look fabulous! :D Looks like y'all had such a great time.

I got to have some fun too. :) We went to Shreveport, LA last night for a bit of gambling. In no particular order, here are a few events....

Checked in, flung our suitcase in our room

Gambled, lost some...won some...lost some...won some

Rinse and repeat

Consumed beer

Staggered down a flight of steps, not from said beer consumption, but from laughing fits

Ate bbq ribs, potatoes, gravy, dirty rice, sausage, hushpuppies, fish, black olives, corn on the cob and chocolate cake

Gambled and consumed more beer

Margaritas in a cowboy boot

A sore jaw

A broken telephone

More laughter

None of the above will be explained in detail. Just trust me...we had a LOT of fun.

LOL, you're rich!!! Are you sure that isn't the ER board's collective net worth after the past few days of the market? :ROFLMAO:

Some security guard was probably gettin' a good laugh out of your antics!

I forgot to mention the three footballs. Oh....I hope they never come out with a new show called 'Casino Bloopers'.....

I'm sitting here killing time until I attend the wake of a friend's father. He let his porch rot away, and when he was filling a birdfeeder, he leaned against the railing, which broke and he fell to the ground directly on his shoulder. He laid in the yard on a very hot humid day for a few hours until a neighbor heard him yelling for help.
All sorts of existing health issues (kept hidden from his daughter) were further aggravated by this injury. He was stable for a week or so in the hospital, then his kidneys failed (had prior problems) and he passed away.
His wife passed right after my husband almost 7 years ago. I used to go over and get him out of the house when I had errands to run. He eventually preferred just to hole up and watch TV. Neither his daughter or I could budge him to get him out socializing. He eventually told us both to just let him be.
My friend is just beside herself. I will do what I can to comfort her. Sorry to be a downer today. I am very sad about this. :( I think he just gave up, in spite of both of our efforts to get him to restart life after his wife passed.

If you know someone who lives alone, please check on them frequently by telephone.

Lena and I just got back from a wonderful hike in the redwoods with A FELLOW ER FORUM MEMBER and his wife and son.

I attended the cemetery services for my friend's father early this morning and have a better sense of closure. I am a very sensitive person when it comes to stuff like this, i.e. I feel so bad for the family to lose a loved one.
Mr B had to go volunteer at the Legion - setup and cooking for a private company party using their facilities.
I am sitting here listening to 1970s music and swatting flies as they dare to venture close enough to get :bat:.
We have plans to go out for a fancy dinner tonight with friends. I have some cashback money stashed in a savings account. We will let that will foot the dinner bill for us. :D

Just got back from a 25 mile bike ride at Red Rock Canyon outside of Vegas. This is my third Saturday to ride and each weekend I'm going a little further and a little faster...and I'm POOPED!!

For lots of you 25 miles is barely a warmup, but I'm still in babystep mode and I'm having a blast!! I hope someday soon be passing people instead of being the one being passed; but all in good time.

Decided to sell my car today...that is for the right price. ...and no, it has nothing to do with gambling. :D

I've got two dealers frothing at the bit for my car. The next few days should be interesting.

Four hours of tennis in the hot FLA sun......reclined to watch the 3rd round of the PGA Championship minus Tiger Woods. Now the Tampa Bay Rays vs NYY.

Coffee with a new friend. Errands in town. Hair appointment. Wandering downtown with a stop at a new chocolate shop. Iced hot chocolate is divine! Returned home. Cooked curried fish w/brown rice for dinner. Emailed a few contacts. Being lazy and unsocial this evening.

Four of us went to see the Mariners beat Boston tonight. Excellent game, Mariners won 5-4. It is so handy to go since we got the Link train. From home to the ballpark entrance maybe 45 minutes, no traffic no hassles.

Coming back the train is packed, but people are very polite and easy going unlike crowds in some other cities recently.

Ha

Yeah, 'cause you won.

We had a great dinner out last night. I ordered seafood (scallops, shrimp, clams, mussels) scampi over linguini. I gave the mussels  to Mr B. I ate all of the other seafood and brought 2/3 of the linguine home.
I hung around the house again while Mr B did his Legion business, this time a testimonial at a birthday party (by invitation only) for an older Legionnaire. It's h*ll when you're popular.
So I did 2 loads of laundry and surfed in between wash cycles.
I made BBQ boneless chicken breast in the ol' crockpot, and some homemade potato salad.
I picked enough filet bush beans to half fill 3 quart size baggies. I picked my first ripe tomato. :D I'm letting it sit on the counter for one more day to get really ripe and juicy. There are several others that are almost ripe. I am hoping that their ripeness schedule will be spaced out day by day.
Time to goof off now.
