Yesterday we went on a bike ride along the Oregon coast. You can read a full report here.

Here's a photo and a video:

Thanks to NW-Bound for telling me about the tools necessary to deshake the video.

- Tried to get up at 6. Failed for the fourth day in a row (ever since Daylight Savings Time)
- Kung fu in the park this morning
- took son for walk, to post office, hardware store, Chinatown for lunch, home again, got sidetracked by neighbour and his two grandsons and went with the for another walk
- got home, did some plumbing repair of the wash basin in the basement
- walked back to HW store, got more liquid plumber
- made dinner, now playing on the web

I'm afraid that if I did this there would not be two little indentations. :)

Clever! I am often not good about wearing the helmet because I hate sun glare and want a bigger visor. Any chance at a picture?

You would be surprised. Those bones are pretty good at showing up thru soft tissue.

Here's a couple of pics.

My early bulbs are out too - miniature iris & crocus.

I pruned some bushes today and did a load of laundry. My knee hurts so it was rather limiting. So I accomplished something today. It was a beautiful day today in the pre-spring days.

......In the meantime, I decided to add some of my own "color" to the landscape.

Can you say "tacky" ? :ROFLMAO:

What do ya mean "tacky"? I have two sets just like those! Also have a bird bath with a pink flamingo base.....and a 30" tall concrete pink flamingo...and pink flamingo windchimes...and pink flamingo plant stakes....and....and.... :D

So today I cleaned up 5 more flower beds and cut down all of the ornamental grasses since they are now starting to show new green growth coming up!!! And the daffs now have buds on them, so they'll be popping open in the next day or two!

Spring arrives here at 12:32 p.m. on Saturday...only 36 hours and 10 minutes away!!!! :flowers:

Now I'm trying to figure out a way to take photographs from the bike without having to find a safe place to stop, remove gloves, get camera from saddlebag, put everything back. Some of the scenery was worthy of picture-taking, especially the high-running creeks.
Vibration-stabilized helmet cam?

Dropped the "I'm going on military leave for the next TWO years, starting April 5, 2010" bomb at the office today...
Supervisors not speaking to me now!
I'm trying to figure out if you're describing a problem or a solution...

:dance::clap::dance:

I can't believe we're down to the wire now!! Counting in hours instead of days!

I have crocuses, tete-a-tete daffodils, and a few of the big daffs in bloom now. Lots more to come! This is my FAVORITE time of year. :D

This is my FAVORITE time of year. :D

I always looked at spring in the midwest as like banging your head against a wall so it would feel good when you stopped. Could be why I moved where winter is avg. 5 degrees "colder" than summer. If I ever miss snow, I'll watch it on TV. If I ever miss spring, I'll get up early and feel the 66 degree chill in the air. If I ever miss fall, I'll go watch the leaves fall off every tree all year round - that's one I wasn't quite prepared for.:nonono:

Friday I do water kick boxing and then we all go out for lunch so any calories we burned are soon replaced . It's a great fun group of women and we laugh ourselves silly . I'm so glad I found this group . It's just the right amount of socializing for me .

I enjoyed my first day out on my screened (openings still have plexiglas panels in place) porch and did some yard reconaissance.
5 purple crocus are actually blooming. Aaaaahhhhhhhhh
My indoor green thumb is out in full force.
I planted some Black-Eyed Susan vine seeds for indoor sprouting. My 2 orange canna bulbs are up and loving the bright sunshine in the front window.
Once my latest tiny crop of Romaine matures a little more, I will be planting Cubanelle pepper seeds in the 10 gal aquarium setup.
I assembled my Macrodome mushroom kit. I am awaiting the proper humidity to build up inside before I add the innoculated dowels (Shiitake mushroom first, then Oyster for the second batch) and colonizing/fruiting medium. Pics will be posted when it's all put together. :D

I made bread. Tastes good, but only had one loaf pan, so had to use two 13x9 cake pans for the rest of the dough. I skipped a part of the recipe after kneading the dough to put it back into the bowel and let it rise again...so needless to say, I had some short bread. Also, taking DW out to celebrate our anniversary, gotta recover from the oops its our anniversary morning...

I cleaned up 6 more gardens here today! Only have [-]8 more[/-] 9 more to go, and then everything will be done and ready for the growing season!!! I had already prepped 11 gardens earlier this week!

I like gardens so much, I'm definitely putting in 3 more this year...and possibly a 4th one if I still have energy after I finish everything else.....if not this year, that 4th one will be a priority for next year! It's going to be a 50' long by 5' wide shade garden on the north side of the house, which is the ONLY area of the property that doesn't have anything growing other than the lawn!

Life is GREAT.....with more gardens and less lawn!!! :flowers:

I had a wonderful bike ride. Sunny and warm -- I can't describe how enjoyable it was. I saw a car exactly like this one, and met a couple who is riding from Argentina to Alaska. They started in Jan, 2009. I'm bummed that I can't remember their web site address.

Had today off. Planned a big night of thai cooking at home. I made beef with basil and also made pad thai from scratch for the first time. (Well, I tried it once before, but I didn't have all the right ingredients, so I'm not counting that, LOL.)

I was so excited that the pad thai came out great! It does require lots of oil, though, to taste this good.

I attended a reunion/retiree luncheon today. Mostly I was curious to see who else might attend. It was an interesting experience and I got to chat with several people who retired several years ago. I also won a door prize and came home with a bottle of wine, Fermenting Friends which is made by a retired employee of my former Megagov agency. :D

Retirement is good and the Spring flowers are just beautiful with the daffodils and hyacinth providing lots of pretty color.

I put up some new bluebird nest boxes at the local state park. A little band of about 6 of us monitor 80 or so nest boxes. I recently pulled in another [-]sucker[/-] volunteer and created a new area for her to monitor. It will soon be time to evict the field mice and get on with the breeding season.

This is more like "what I did yesterday". Had laser repair on a small tear on my retina. I had a regular eye exam yesterday morning after my complaining of flashes of light, etc. Doctor made an appointment for retina specialist for yesterday afternoon. After regular eye appointment, ordered new glasses then drove to retina specialist.

I had no idea they would do the repair right then and there. So, after two hours and the laser surgery, with a bandage on my eye I couldn't drive home.

Fortunately, it was close to 5:00 o'clock by that time and I was able to get DD to come pick me up. My car is still at the doctor's office.

Anyway, that day is over and now a new one and I'm feeling much better now.:D

Yesterday, I did more bike shop looking and found a bottle holder that will work and the big thing was a set of small panniers and front bag. My bike is now ready and tricked out with everything it need for my bike patrol gig. Amazing how much little stuff a bike needs. I have a couple of new friends to patrol with lined up. Now, if only my knee would stop hurting...

On the way home, I stopped on a whim to see an old friend I hadn't seen since I retired and had a lovely visit. Then I mounted my purchases and spent the evening compiling a list of all the places on the canal. Various lists didn't have them all.

Today is honey-do day.
First on the agenda is dh2b's w*rk clothes laundry detail, then out in the yard for the annual pickup detail.
Hint: I have 2 dogs. Anybody want pictures?

UPDATE: We blew off the yard pickup detail. Laundry and homemade pumpkin pie won the day's chore selection battle.
