......... I take several 5 gallon cans in the pickup truck and fill those too to make sure to get every one of those 25 gallons.
 Sounds like something I'd do.

I was recruited last minute to help make pizza for the local Legion kids' xmas party. The good news is we used frozen pizzas from Deli Boy food service instead of making them from scratch. I had a few slices, not too bad tasting.

I saw Santa, Mrs Claus and a very well dressed Elf hand out toys. The kids were well behaved.

And...besides many thank-you's from the Legion Auxiliary ladies, I got 3 free beers from the bartender for helping out.

I was able to watch the last quarter of the Jets-Patriots game after the food duty was over. Amazing that my Jets only lost by 1 point.

A miracle in itself! Maybe its because I had my Jets fan Tshirt on.

Spent pretty much all day looking for a password manager program and then when finally finding one that I like, inputing a lot (about 150) id and password information from my old program to the new one. A good way to spend the entire day and evening

A few days ago I had the pleasure of watching many of the Texas state high school football championships which were played in "Jerry's House" (Cowboy Stadium). Nine championship games were played over a three day period, and all were televised on one of the Fox Sports channels. Thankfully few of the games were blowouts and some were straight from a scriptwriter's imagination on the "Friday Night Lights" TV series, especially this one:

A team tragically loses one of its top players in the offseason. The team dedicates its season to its late teammate, wins 15 straight games to get to the state championship [stops the bus on the way to the championship game so all the players can visit their fallen teammate's grave] and then trails 25-7 at halftime. That team then [rallies around the memory of their deceased teammate at half time and] shuts out its opponent [scoring 28 points] in the second half and rallies for the win.

On Saturday we took our annual trek down to the San Antonio River Walk for the TubaMeisters Christmas concert. Good stuff...

Following our family Christmas get to together on Saturday, I have veg'd out in my pajamas, playing online and watching TV. Done nothing for the past 48 hours, and I have no plans to do anything for a few days - unless it snows - then I'll go out and get some snow photos.

It's a cloudy, foggy day here with a temp of 29 degrees. There is no place I have to be so I did a few miles on my exercise bike and now am spending the rest of the day listening to music and surfing the net.

Rewahoo, Are you familiar with Carlo Cortez, faux bois sculptures? Pretty sure his studio is in San Antonia and I think I remember something about "riverwalk". My little cement works are nothing compared to his, wish I could sculpt better.

Yes, his work and especially those of his dad and uncle are sprinkled throughout San Antonio, many at Breckenridge Park & Zoo. Carlos created "The Grotto" on the new Museum Reach portion of the Riverwalk. (Note the video narrator is Tommie Lee Jones...)

Nice, I admire his work and just realized I misspelled his name, Carlos Cortes.
Thank you for the link to the Grotto.

As usual, figure skated in the morning then coffee.

On the way home treated my suburban to a princely ten dollar top of the line carwash. Yes and I did drive very slowly over the threshold to give it a good bottom wash.

It has been over a week since the last salting of the roads, therefore likely the salt brine has been washed out of the carwash tanks.

Then took a long nap.

Well, I wasted around 4 hours that I'll never get back. UHC decided one of the meds my mother takes needed to be 'recertified' for use in 2015, or they would deny coverage. We saw the doc on a regular visit only a month ago (where the med was reviewed), so I called, expecting to just mail the form. No way, another visit. i picked up mom, took her to the doc, who got her undies in a wad because "the form didn't make sense". She called the insurer, and after about 20 minutes, confirmed with the person on the other end of the phone that the form didn't make sense, there was no generic option or alternative medicine available, no other dose options, so the med had to be authorized or her health imperiled by stopping treatment.

I also found her new insurance card. Compared it to the old one, and noticed that the copay went up from 10% to 15%. It wouldn't be so bad if they (State of Illinois strikes again) just came out and told the retirees about the change, but I don't see a notification anywhere.

That is just awful!!! I am speechless.

I spent the morning hassling over my prescriptions too, but not due to the insurance company. My doctor's incompetent staff needed several reminders on several different days before they would deign to call in my usual prescriptions after my routine appointment last week. I was completely out of medications by last night. With the holidays nearly here and the doctor already away on his Christmas vacation, it was getting down to the wire.

After reminding them again this morning, I am happy to say that I now have my prescriptions in hand. And it only cost me an arm, a leg, and my firstborn child.

Getting ready for Christmas today. Yesterday we spent the afternoon at the Oakland Museum and listened to a live jazz band in the museum cafe.

DH printed out our ACA plan health insurance invoice today and we are signed up and paid up for January 2015 without a hitch this year.

Walked two miles, bought groceries, did some last-minute gift shopping, made a pot o' chili, now waiting for Cincinnati/Denver.

Did my Qi Gong and Tai Chi classes. Home for a little garden work, then out with ~50 million other people in the grocery store. Not doing that again until after Christmas.

I learned that today, December 23rd, is Festivus.

I will never be the same again. I have found my home amongst the Festivusians.

"Festivus is a secular holiday celebrated on December 23rd as a way to celebrate the holiday season without participating in its pressures and commercialism."

Went ice skating with DH and DD today. First time for DD and she was racing us around the rink by the end of the session. Then we sat in the hot tub at our rental condo to warm up. Tonight we are planning to watch a few family friendly Christmas movies.

Went to hand clinic and had wrist unwrapped from carpal tunnel surgery on the 18th. Healing well. Starting on New Year will have two almost fully functional hands.

The thread/poll about marriage made me think of our marriage license, which I had not seen for decades. So, I opened up the fire safe and looked for it.

But I also found some EE bonds, which are dated 1982. Son of a gun! I forgot all about them. They are past 30 years and already stopped accruing interest, but I have missed only 2 years.

So, I looked on the Web and found out that they are worth 5.88x what I paid for them. That's a nominal return of 6.1% annualized. After adjustment for the 2.35x inflation rate, it worked out to a real return of 3.1%/yr.

The S&P returned 25x (compared to 5.88x) nominally in the same 30 years. Oh well! Woulda, shoulda...

I'm hanging around doing my own version of "Home Alone".

Mr B is in NH with his Mom. I just wasn't feeling up to driving 5 hours out, sleeping in a hotel for 4 nights, running back and forth to his aunt/uncle's house, and then driving back 5 hours. So I sent him on his way and decided to have the house all to myself. We will have our own xmas on the 27th when he returns.

I'm in a very good mood. I have Golden Oldies playing on the cable music channel, and a nice fire lit. It has been raining all day to the point where there is standing water in the front and back yard. No snow left at all. :'(

I'm sending silly texts to friends...like so...

The team was all ready to go...and then Rudolph farted.

I'm in the process of installing my new workshop air cleaner that Santa brought me. Too bad he couldn't stick around to help me run some electrical and mount it to the ceiling.

Did some morning house chores - then went on a nice walk in the open space close by with shaded trails. Very nice to just get out and enjoy the nice weather.

Now - catching up on some magazine reading, munching on some cheese and crackers with a cold adult beverage.

Will do some back yard clean up before dinner. Then a log in the fireplace, last of the left overs for dinner, before curling up on the couch with some wine and find a nice 'old' movie on tv.
