what did you do today? (2008-2015) (closed)

Nords, sorry to hear about your father. We've sort of "been there" with my mother, and FIL's issues are still developing. One day at a time is about all one can do.

Yesterday we debated whether to go to the Baltimore Railroad Museum or the Antique Car museum in Hershey, PA. Both are about the same travel time but Hershey is an easier drive so that one won out. DW just wanted to go do something different so to my surprise she wanted to go. We spent a couple of hours there, went to dinner at a local Bob Evans restaurant and came home. I took the camera and a travel-type light tripod.

The Honda 50cc motorcycle has meaning because I remember cutting school one day with two other guys and we each rented one for the day. To make a long story short, it's a wonder we survived.

Woke up to a gorgeous sunny day. Still cold out, but no cloud cover is a real boon for the cabin-fever crowd here in East Nowhere.

I think I will just goof off online today. Maybe run some laundry...

Mr B is doing some research and accounting record system troubleshooting for the Adjutant at the local Legion, so he will have his nose to the grindstone all morning with that. He is keeping himself very busy and getting a lot of satisfaction out of feeling useful. He is now 9 months retired and settling very nicely into the daily freedom to do whatever he wants to. :D

Bought an elliptical and installed it in my office (work from home).

Now when I'm on endless conference calls where I'm in listen mode I can get in some exercise.

Did my first session a few minutes ago....man am I out of shape!

It's a beautiful day...sunny and 73 degrees. I'm gonna wear a tee shirt and shorts and play in the yard. Might have a frosty bev or two. :D

There were a few treated pieces, but I threw those away. The rest was redwood, and apparently untreated.

Today DH and I applied for passports for the first time ever. Hoping to use them later this year when we go into Canada.

I would have killed my grandma for that very same Honda 50 when I was 14:).

Today I replaced my leaking 37-year-old floor jack with a new one. This purchase will pay out on the next oil change. Note the cool-but-simple-funny-looking removable extension that increases the lift height to 21".

Made a trip to the woodworking shop for some alder and a dado blade. I'm repurposing a cedar chest I made for my grandmother in 1970 or 71. She passed away in 1994 and I got the chest back. Finally changing into a more manly looking "toybox".

I still have a C70, which has a slightly larger 72cc engine. It was made in 1980, and I bought it used in 1982. I used to cruise the neighborhood with my wife in the back to go look at garage sales. Rich-in-Tampa mentioned in a previous post that he used to have one at about the same period.

I kept this C70 up in my boonies home, and stopped registering it more than 20 years ago. Always garage kept, it is in good shape. It looks like the following "borrowed" picture, basket and all.

Two years ago, I bought a CT70, which would be more suitable for trail riding around my boonies home.

Woke up to yet another sunny day. I can get used to this. :D
Spring is definitely on its way...aaaahhhhhh.

I have some homemade Boston baked beans in the crockpot to slow cook all day. I will finish them in the oven later. I dislike canned baked beans because of the overwhelming saltiness, that joke of a miniscule piece of pork fat, and the mushy consistency.

I need to motivate and shower/get dressed for another rousing round of cribbage downtown. Sleet and freezing rain is expected later this evening :( , so we will be staying home tonight.

More work on my friend's John Deere "B" tractor today. Engine should be back together today. I think Spring got lost or at the very least is wandering aimlessly somewhere, it's 10 degrees here this morning, but it's above zero.

Went hiking with my BIL and his puppy. This is the first of about 50 swamps she ran through. My SIL will not be happy when they get home.

Went on a nice ride with Lena, and tried out my new invention (red arrow). It's made from a convex mirror.

Can you tell what it's for?

Mardi Gras weekend here, rainy, with wind and severe thunderstorms in the forecast.

It only seems to make things crazier! A few parades have been pushed back due to the weather but most have not. The stands are up, the crowds are assembling, and so it goes.

Can you tell what it's for?

A mirror holder to admire the dude pushing pedals while not getting lost?

Knight rider reflecting oncoming semi's headlights?

Sorry about your Dad's situation, Nords.
If it helps any, I can attest that there is often some really good care available. After a few false starts, which were very disruptive, I finally got Mom settled in an Alzheimer's assisted living facility last summer, and she has been doing great there. They take wonderful care of her, and her mental condition has actually improved since she has been there.

Had a Honda step through in college 1970's. Up and down Sharps Park road in Pacifica. Than one day I burned a hole in the top of the piston.

Had to switch to my Honda 305 [-]Dream[/-] nightmare.

Today I listened to the rain and listened to the sump pump.
