I wish i was telling lie [friend getting scammed]

I better move to New York, there is plenty of money making opportunities that I've never thought of. I'm sure I can do some HEX. I need to read up how first.

Here is a sad truth that some learn earlier then others... you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear. If she's the right one it should happen easily...

I might be more cynical - right now you are the only one who we know for sure is out the $1k.

So who is getting scammed here? Your friend by the hex-women? Or you by your friend.... I hope he pays you back so do provide updates!

+1

We definitely need updates on who's Hexing who? :(

These stories are amazing. One of my brothers married 4 times, absolute proof that the family IQ passed him by. I know there are many successful second and ith marriages on this forum, but in real life every time you spin that wheel your odds go down.

Ha
Although true statistically, there are many of us here who found lifelong happiness on the second spin. It is to overcome decisions made too young.

I agree on finding another woman, but at this stage he was a bit distraught to suggest it.
He is lucky to have you as a friend. Next step is an intervention without cash!

I've read that the statistic is that 70% of second marriages end in divorce. If I'd known that at the time I may not have married DW. Next month will end the 29th year so at this point I'm optimistic. I told that statistic to my older sister who has been married 30+ years to her second husband and she said "Yeah, but those are the people who didn't learn anything the first time."

She's probably right.
and chances are, there will be many more...

It is amazing how many try to make over the next one...

DW tried out a demo husband for a while when she was young, but turned him back in and waited until she found a better one. :D

Danger Will Robinson!

Please forgive me for finding this thread to be entertaining in train wreck fashion. I just can't look away.

Of course, the situation has scam written all over it in letters as tall as a NYC skyscraper. Most likely, either BCG's friend is so naive he probably needs to be bilked to learn the lesson about A Fool And His Money, or else he's in on it himself and is no friend at all.

Or possibly it's all a practical joke contrived for a candid camera show or a surprise party.

But I like the idea that BCG's friend is sincere in his desperate attempt to salvage lost love, because it highlights a disturbing but fascinating aspect of the human condition: the creative criminal mind.

Most people are not criminals. Oh, ordinary citizens may break the odd traffic law or tell a white lie or two, maybe even pinch a pen from the bank or overstate a tax deduction. None of us is perfect. But our brains do not work in a way that leads us to go out of our way to inflict disproportionate harm on our innocent fellows. For the most part we either care about our neighbor or at least are polite enough to avoid inflicting intentional harm.

But then there are the human predators whose brains are wired differently, leaving them as unconcerned with the pains of their victims as lions are about zebras. That the gypsy, and probably the ex-GF as well, has deliberately and malevolently created this farce about magically curing a love curse by burning money is deliciously evil, and way too creative for me ever to have thought of it.

I am understanding this correctly, right? When you say "burning money", you mean the gypsy allegedly collects and actually sets fire to piles of U.S. Federal Reserve Notes? How theatrically spectacular!

It is unfortunate for the lovestruck gentleman that he can not see through the absurd veil of deceit. No doubt the pain in his heart is so great his is blind to the practical hurt the con artists are inflicting on his finances. When he finally wakes up and comprehends how he has been duped, it may haunt him for years. (I know this because I watched a similar tragedy happen to a close family member.) I can only hope it ends quickly so it limits the damage.

But in the meantime, it's too awesome. I can't look away!

I married the first time at 18 and it only lasted 3 1/2 years. I married again at 22 and it lasted 22 years. When I met my 3rd DH we lived together for almost 6 years before marrying because I was so afraid of making a mistake again. Now we have been happily together for 20 years. I have some friends on their 3rd marriage and some still on the first. I think each marriage event is independent of the other as far as odds of success.

Follow up , for anyone that is interested, I did NOT get my thousand back yet. I didnt seem to expect it this soon, if it goes on for more than a week id be unhappy.

:LOL: HEX = spell,. Must be an East coast slang sorry. ...

Not just east coast slang. It's been around for a long time and I've been familiar with it since a midwestern kid (dunno if books or speech though....). Maybe usage is somewhat limited to areas with (or adjacent to) a sizeable german immigrant history?

BCG, good luck with that 1000. :)

I have unfortunately known folks who have done scams similar to this... they make the mark think they are burning money, but essentially use sleight of hand to replace the real money brought by the mark with fakes. The fakes get burned, the real money gets pocketed, and they try to string the mark along for as long as possible.

The cynic in me hopes your friend and the hex woman isn't living the good life with your $1K at the moment only to have spent all of it when you ask to collect.

Somebody's getting punked, but I can't tell who.

If someone is trying to get rid of you, let them...

That'll be a thousand bucks.
