I'm setting up my old stereo again. I ordered a 10-pack of RCA wire connectors, and an extension cord so I can listen to my old-school headphones sitting in my chair.
Me too. The grandkids can buy whatever they want and I don't have to wrap them.Visa gift cards. Easy presents!
I decided to buy myself a Christmas present and actually decided and did that on impulse just now, on the spur of the moment. Here's what I got:
A Nintendo Switch,
I got that Nintendo classic game for my daughter’s family for Christmas. They have other games but they said they had fun. Daughter and her husband had a reliving their childhood moment. Grandsons thought it was cute. Games have changed for sure. Personally, I never got into gaming. Not sure why, but it never caught my interest.
I am glad to read that you like the Switch. I am so excited that I bought one. And thanks for the tips! I didn't know about that subreddit but it looks very helpful (so I subscribed after reading your post). The Switch is great. If you want to splurge, buy only digital versions of games. It’s usually more expensive, but the convenience makes it worth it. You have your entire game library on the switch available to play at any time, but if you do this, you’ll want to buy an SD card.
You can also buy Nintendo eShop gift cards at a discount. Costco had (has?) them at a 10% discount and occasionally you can find them discounted on eBay. They’re delivered digitally, which makes it easy.
And if you’re on Reddit, you can follow r/NintendoSwitchDeals. This is how I keep track of discounts on gift cards and games.
Thank you! I figure I'll get "blocky" graphics enough with all those old Sega Genesis games I ordered for it, ha ha! So I am looking forward to the improved graphics on the newer games. Maybe I'll look at Super Mario Brothers too.I bought one of those on impulse too, last year. Pretty slick. My motivation was Super Mario Brothers, a game that turned New Years Eve into a totally sober experience one year. It was way more fun for us to smash blocks than get smashed.
The graphics now are amazing but I miss the “blocky” look of the older systems.

Oh this is SO COOL!!! My Switch is out for delivery by Amazon's delivery service. So, I just hit the tracking button for it, and it shows a map of my neighborhood - - and the map shows that right at this very moment, they are in the next block over. Also it says they have just 9 more deliveries until it reaches me!!!
How cool is that! This is the first time I have ever seen this.
EDIT four minutes later: And when I refreshed it said, "You are next" and I ran to the door and they handed me the package. Simply amazing.
UPS has a similar online tool that allows you to follow the progress of the truck on a map as it makes it's way to your house for a delivery. I first saw it in November and suspect it's in response to the Amazon service. The UPS service is less sophisticated than Amazon's as it doesn't provide any info on how many deliveries remain until yours.
