What is the last thing you ordered from Amazon?

I'm setting up my old stereo again. I ordered a 10-pack of RCA wire connectors, and an extension cord so I can listen to my old-school headphones sitting in my chair.

Ordered a shiny camera and camera accessories :).

I thought Santa might be late as I actually tried ordering and shipping to an Amazon locker for safety (didn't like the idea of an expensive camera unattended sitting by the doorstep or lobby) last night. But all lockers at the Amazon Locker location was full. But freed up by tonight.

Ordered 2 G6 phones, for $300 total.
Ordered it Nov 15th (approx).
Problem is the deal was so great, that it was backordered.
Finally a month later, my CC notified me I have been charged, so I checked and it is now processing :D
Funny, as I was thinking of finding another good deal and cancelling the one I was waiting for.

Pink peppercorns. Need them for my holiday beef tenderloin and local grocers don’t carry them.

Blink 3 camera security system. Going to Florida in February. I want to spy on the cat lady :)

This Christmas I did not set foot in a shopping centre to do my/our shopping. Amazon and Costco on line mostly. Plus a few items from our local Costco store. Selection, service, price. My spouse purchased a few things from a local dept. store.

The last thing I ordered is a "gift" for me and DW - a TOTO Bidet heated toilet seat. Going to install it today. Tried a bidet attachment a year or so ago but the water and the seat are not heated. Looking forward to the small luxury of some heat in all the right places.

I decided to buy myself a Christmas present and actually decided and did that on impulse just now, on the spur of the moment. Here's what I got:

A Nintendo Switch,

and four games for it:
1.) Zelda, Breath of the Wild
2.) Sega Genesis Classics
3.) Minecraft
4.) Super Smash Brothers Ultimate

I am also going to get a fifth game,
5.) Stardew Valley,
but since it is downloadable only, I'll just wait and buy it when I have the Switch set up and ready for it.

The game I REALLY want is "Animal Crossing 2019", but it doesn't even have a release date yet. It's just supposed to be released sometime in 2019 and so I can't even pre-order it yet. Soon, hopefully!

Had to reorder camera chest harness - last one didn't get here - damaged in transit
Ordered some tile sealer for the kitchen backsplash

A Nintendo Switch,

I bought one of those on impulse too, last year. Pretty slick. My motivation was Super Mario Brothers, a game that turned New Years Eve into a totally sober experience one year. It was way more fun for us to smash blocks than get smashed.

The graphics now are amazing but I miss the “blocky” look of the older systems.

I got that Nintendo classic game for my daughter’s family for Christmas. They have other games but they said they had fun. Daughter and her husband had a reliving their childhood moment. Grandsons thought it was cute. Games have changed for sure. Personally, I never got into gaming. Not sure why, but it never caught my interest.

We spent a great deal of time and quarters camped out playing Atari games like “Spy Hunter” with Peter Gunn music as the theme.

About ten years ago I found some emulator that worked on my Windows system which could play the original ROMs (game programs), if you could find them. “Spy Hunter” and “Pole Position” returned!

Blast from the past but when I looked to reinstall it later the anti-virus/malware scans sounded the air raid siren.

[ADDED] The emulator is called MAME. It wasn’t the cause of the alarms going off, but individual ROMs were.

Purchased a two ring Instant Pot set. Red and Blue. I love our I.P., but when making savory dishes, the ring can absorb flavors. I think this is probably the only downside of the I.P. I've run into.

So, we'll use the blue for sweet, and the red for savory.

The Switch is great. If you want to splurge, buy only digital versions of games. It’s usually more expensive, but the convenience makes it worth it. You have your entire game library on the switch available to play at any time, but if you do this, you’ll want to buy an SD card.

You can also buy Nintendo eShop gift cards at a discount. Costco had (has?) them at a 10% discount and occasionally you can find them discounted on eBay. They’re delivered digitally, which makes it easy.

And if you’re on Reddit, you can follow r/NintendoSwitchDeals. This is how I keep track of discounts on gift cards and games.

I am glad to read that you like the Switch. I am so excited that I bought one. And thanks for the tips! I didn't know about that subreddit but it looks very helpful (so I subscribed after reading your post).

Tomorrow I get some of the games I ordered, and Sunday my Switch will be delivered! Be still my heart.

Thank you! I figure I'll get "blocky" graphics enough with all those old Sega Genesis games I ordered for it, ha ha! :2funny: So I am looking forward to the improved graphics on the newer games. Maybe I'll look at Super Mario Brothers too.

Honestly I feel like I must have totally lost my mind to make such a big purchase on the spur of the moment. I was determined to wait until the new Animal Crossing game was released and it really surprised me that I just abandoned that resolve on a whim like that. But I had the money, and it will definitely jazz things up around my house, that's for sure.

Mario and Luigi are burned in my brain. A few years ago, I was sitting around at a rest stop playing with my phone and checking out ringtones. One was the early Super Mario theme, unmistakable if you heard it.

These two guys were walking by, probably in their early thirties. That ringtone played and one smiled, raised a fist, and said “Rock On!!”.

I bet you’ll rock that Switch.

Oh this is SO COOL!!! My Switch is out for delivery by Amazon's delivery service. So, I just hit the tracking button for it, and it shows a map of my neighborhood - - and the map shows that right at this very moment, they are in the next block over. Also it says they have just 9 more deliveries until it reaches me!!!

How cool is that! This is the first time I have ever seen this.

EDIT four minutes later: And when I refreshed it said, "You are next" and I ran to the door and they handed me the package. Simply amazing.

UPS has a similar online tool that allows you to follow the progress of the truck on a map as it makes it's way to your house for a delivery. I first saw it in November and suspect it's in response to the Amazon service. The UPS service is less sophisticated than Amazon's as it doesn't provide any info on how many deliveries remain until yours.

How cool!!! I'll look for that at my next UPS delivery.

I just LOVE living in 2019. Sure, there are problems we didn't have in decades past, but wow - - the technology just blows me away. :D

My Switch is up and running, and much nicer than I ever expected. :D
