How much do you spend per month on fitness?

$860 a month for DH and me: $4715 gym membership, $5K personal trainer, and $600 for 2 pair walking shoes/year. Have a good selection of resistance bands, balls, rollers, weights, etc. that we've purchased over the years. I categorize the protein drinks under groceries as we tend to eat low on...

    Free COVID tests available again....

I used expired 2/2024 tests (they expire date had been extended) last week for both DH and I and we tested positive. A very strong positive, no faint lines.

Does a SNF require social security numbers?

That's what I assume. I just got annoyed when they said that Medicare required that they get the SSN. Just doesn't make sense to me. I guess they'll run a credit check to make sure you can afford the phone and cable TV .

Does a SNF require social security numbers?

I just received a call from the SNF/rehab facility that is admitting DH from the hospital in 1.5 hours. They stated they had to have his SS number as Medicare requires it. Sounds fishy to me but I'm between a rock and a hard place at this point. Getting into a good facility was a nightmare as he...

    2024 Umbrella Policy costs

Just received the renewal yesterday and was surprised if went DOWN by ~15%. They made up for it with the 25% increase in our auto policies and have already stated that HO insurance will increase by 20%.

I've got Covid.... The thread for your covid experiences

I tested positive Saturday with symptoms starting Thursday. DH had tested positive on Wednesday. He was prescribed Paxlovid and had to stop his 2 heart and colesterol meds. My doc prescribed Lagevrio which has no conflicts with other meds (my BP meds) as well as doesn't have the nasty side...

I've got Covid.... The thread for your covid experiences

I caught one of the nasties mid December. Both upper and lower respiratory infections at the same time with the lower one worse. I believe I caught a secondary bacterial infection around day 10 as my upper respiratory infection went through the roof then. Tested several times for Covid but it...

I've got Covid.... The thread for your covid experiences

I'm sorry to hear that. Wishing you a speedy recovery. DH is on his second day of relatively mild upper respiratory infection with some coughing. I just picked up the Paxlovid.

I've got Covid.... The thread for your covid experiences

DH just tested positive this morning...2 tests as we thought the first might have been a false positive. I'm negative. Unfortunately, DH just had an endoscopy Monday morning and I'm very concerned about how that might interact with the Covid infection spread as well as his age, 77. Video appt...

    Monthly Grocery Expenditure

I haven't seen $5 cereal in years and years. Last time I bought a box....wait for it... ...$8.49!!! As to bread, we eat very little and I buy an 'artisan' style baguette which lasts us for the week. I think it's $6.50 or so a loaf. We do eat a lot of wraps and I buy the low carb ones.

    Monthly Grocery Expenditure

I recently started tracking our expenses 'for the heck of it' and 2023 was my first 12 month period. This excludes food consumed during vacations. Groceries: $1,417/month (this is food only; no alcohol or other non-food items) Eating out: $99/month (we don't eat out much) 2 Cats: $114/month...

What is your pet peeve of the day? -- 2021

Work-at-home customer service. The connection is usually crappy. However, today took the cake. We have a brand new BTD solar + battery system that is already having problems...we're on the second one. We called today because instead of one panel DOA, we now have 5 panels DOA. We could not get a...

What did you do today? - 2023/2024 version

Very productive morning for me...snagged the timeshare for our vacay in April, made flight ressies, spent an hour+ on the phone as our solar battery stopped working on Friday, took a walk. Now munching on some fruit then install the replacement printers for the color laser that died yesterday...

    Vision problems after cataract surgery

Both. I had much trouble deciding on a single focus vs. multi focus lens. Being nearsighted, I wanted to throw away my glasses and that meant multi focus, but, but, but. I had my right eye done first as the cataract was extremely aggressive to the point I had 4 vision corrections within 1 year...

    Vision problems after cataract surgery

When I had my cataract surgery, I was nearsighted and opted for monovision figuring if the far vision 'test drive' didn't work, I would have the other eye done right away rather than wait for it to go bad. My brain adjusted instantly and I loved having no more glasses for the next 7 years. I had...

    Ladder Injuries

DH fell off the ladder about 2 years ago at 74 clearing the 1st floor gutters. While he only climbed when I was there with him, he lost his balance and fell backward hitting his head on the driveway. Luckily we had redone the concrete driveway to asphalt otherwise, much more damage. He's been...

    I Can't Believe I Got a Tick Gardening!!!

Went to the doc and received a dose of Doxycycline, I assume because the tick was burrowed in longer than 24 hours (read that on Dr. Google). I forgot to ask if that's the case. She said I was lucky that this was my first time for a tick as they are around in the area I live. Our house is in a...

    I Can't Believe I Got a Tick Gardening!!!

Couldn't figure out why I had this "skin tag" on my shoulder. Finally asked DH to take a look and it was a tick. He really had trouble getting it detached but it is now lying in a med bottle awaiting doctor's inspection. I was out gardening yesterday early afternoon and always wear long pants...

What is your pet peeve of the day? -- 2021

People who can't pull all the way into a parking space. Was at the grocery store the other day and driving down the aisle was like a slalom. Pivot to the left here then two cars down pivot to the right. Arggggggg.

Why Your Auto Insurance Premiums are Going Up

What did you do today? - 2023/2024 version

We have a NEW forever vet . She also scraped off the tartar on the 'normal' toothed cat like the previous forever vet did and stated that she had excellent teeth and would definitely NOT recommend cleaning. No signs of inflammation, gingivitis, or any type of dental issues. As to the...

    Electric Vehicles - Models Discussion

This is a good reminder to look into required maintenance on my EV. I have owned my BMW iX xdrive50 (first EV for me) for 15 months now but really don't know what is required . The only ads I get from BMW are ones with coupons for maintenance on ICE cars .
