If you are considering this destination, this may be useful.

You need to fill out an online form arresting to vaccination, booked place to stay, and return ticket.

You need a pcr test within 24 hours of departure from Santiago, which rules out getting one before leaving the USA for many if not all people, given flight schedules. (There are several services that you can book to come to your hotel. Ours cost 50 USD each.)

LATAM asks that you get to airport 4 hours early, but we have an hour to spare with 3 hours early arrival. BUT, the airport check-in is multilevel. First one well staffed area checks all of the data to which you attested, so have everything in hard copy or readily available on your phone. You will receive 2 pieces of paper from this stage.

Next, you go to the boarding pass station--but your pcr results are again checked before you can enter. After boarding pass, you go to another floor that has a security area dedicated to rapa nui. Here, your boarding pass and passport are checked against the passenger manifest. Next, the immigration police check the papers again before security.

Luckily, once through, there are a multitude of lounges that accept priority pass.

I will post again on the new rules for visitors on the island, and the impact of the fire that has caused restricted access around (and in?) the quarry. The new rules are that tourists must be accompanied by a guide or a resident (native?) whenever you are in the park. That could be a big deal. We'll see.

Good point, which I hadn't thought of. When we were on those islands, it was via a small boat and we just naturally followed our guide.... Having to do it when we were planning on some long hikes just felt different!
