Call to close two Social Security loopholes

Briefly- if a man marries a much-younger woman who starts popping out kids, he can file and suspend at FRA and they can collect Spousal and Children's benefits, although the total they can collect is capped at a multiple of his primary amount.

Weird stuff happens. Fifteen years ago the U.S. was still paying pensions to 2 Civil War widows who had married old veterans when they were quite young.

I remember that.....Kind of hilarious when you think about it. Hopefully for the Treasuries sake it wasn't a COLA'd pension!

marko, hard to fault your position, but to me as long as elected politicians write the law it's hard to conceive of more than small changes. Applying taxes already has happened, we will continue to raise retirement age but I don't see losing all benefits. Too easy to run against anyone taking that position and beating them in an election. I expect Medicare bigger target if we got serious about government spending.
