Fair price from contractor?

Gosh...thats a handy detail to know before replying..............

I guess I am in agreement with the other comments....esp Brewer. Carpentry is
different from drywall finishing. Some guys don't like to finish a project thats half done.
Here's my formula:

Inquire how many man-hours are required and budget $30-$70 per man-hr
Estimate cost for materials and add 50% for markup and handling
Figure 1/3 labor, 1/3 material, and 1/3 profit

If the result is anywhere in the ballpark, I'm comfortable with the price. If the price seems high, but I like the contractor, I would get a price with me suppling the materials.
