Yes, I deleted posts from several threads the last few days because I received a slimeball e-mail on my personal Yahoo account.

Now they've gone public.

Re: Moderators, enjoy my leaving

OAP, just off the top of my head during cocktail hour, I'd say that kind of e-mail from another poster on this board is something that the moderators would consider grounds for banning & IP address blocking.

Although I can't speak for Dory in that regard, your e-mail may be the straw that breaks the camel's back with a couple of poster behavioral problems that we've been contending with.

If silly posts impact board credibility then we lost it all long before your arrival.

Yes, I deleted posts from several threads the last few days because I received a Pussyboy e-mail on my personal Yahoo account.  No threats, just reminding me that my recent posts were:
1.  Insensitive, with racist tone (morphing myself to a Chinese person going to SF)
2.  Supportive of illegal drugs and lewd behavior (Bad and Nationwide)
3.  "Your posts are so silly that this board losses credibility."

Just can't believe the A-Hole also came on and questioned why I did it -After his email.

Someone is taking themselves WAY to seriously.  Please give the moderators a chance to either correct or banish the bad actor.

All of us sometimes insult someone at least once, I like you.  Don't go away, please.

Re: Moderators, enjoy my leaving

OAP, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.. I think 99% of the people who stick around on this board enjoy it precisely for its free-wheeling, no-holds-barred discussions that, for the most part, are dispensed and received with a healthy attitude of live & let live.

I follow one other board (non-finance-related), and, unlike the ER Forum, there no-one can really get into an interesting discussion about religion/politics/race/money because ANY opinion, particularly any non-PC opinion, is bound to offend someone, and as a result, everyone reins themselves in and it's fairly boooring. I nearly left that second board because I responded honestly to a topic question and got ganged-up on for my trouble... but I stuck with it because the it has other posters and other topics with information that's useful to me.. but I refuse to walk on eggshells. The fact that the ER Forum is open to practically anything adds to its credibility rather than detracting from it. I love it! It's like a big house party.. so what if one guy over in the corner says something you don't agree with.. or if OAP is taking a couple tokes and dancing on the table with a lampshade on his head?!? Guess it gets up some people's noses when someone else is having more fun than they are!!!

OAP, I enjoy your posts and want to see what you get up to in your future travels, for one!

Fie on the personal/private finger-wagger...

What happens in the ER Forum should stay in the ER Forum!

Re: Moderators, enjoy my leaving

OAP
I will be sorry to see you leave. I have watched how you handled your medical problems over the last few months and have learned form that. Being unmarried and without siblings I could see myself in a similiar situation and made some backup plans should I become ill.

thank you

Your decision but maybe we should not let one idiot spoil a good thing.

If put to a vote I would say yes to banning the person who sent you the email.

Re: Moderators, enjoy my leaving

OAP, I have to agree with Nords, that person should be banned, I have no tolerance for jerks like that. I also find it disgusting that they would email you privately instead of voicing an opinion on the board. What an ass!!!

Re: Moderators, enjoy my leaving

OAP ... I dont know the details, myself being very new here.

But if you like this place then why quit?

I myself 'came aboard' a few weeks ago, was almost immediately met wih a fairly hostile reception even, of all people, from the moderator!

Plus I was labeled a troll. I still don't know to this day what unpardonable sins I committed.

I will admit that I left in disgust.

But after a few weeks, in fact these last few days, I decided to return. I do not know for how long though.

Honestly, I can't say I like this place one way or the other. But I do notice intelligent and interesting commentary. Some here even have a sense of humour. :D

Anyways FWIW whatever you decide then best of luck. You seem to have some support here already. That does count. So maybe think again?

Re: Moderators, enjoy my leaving

OAP -

I have to add my plea to you to not leave. Please allow the moderators to deal with this person. You have been a good member of this board. Don't let this person stop you from staying here - this is your home, too.

Take care of yourself,
Jane

Stick around.

And why dont you drop us the Hall Monitors email? That way we can sign him up for some really, really great gifts and money making opportunities?

I like it. Fitting punishment for an obnoxious busybody. I think a few exotic personal ads placed with the hall monitor's e-mail address would also be a good idea.

Comitted bottom seeks punishing top...

Most of us here are supportive of lewd behavior :)

I agree with CFB and Brewer about send him some links to his email account. How about a slew of porn sites and viagra specials?

Re: Moderators, enjoy my sabbatical

OAP,
Don't go.  My posts are insensitive and silly.  I plan on staying.  Just send the slimeball a reply to his email with some recommendations on where to put his comments.  :D  And do enlighten the moderators.  For the record I like your posts and admire your fortitude in the face of your medical problems.  So please stay.

EDIT: slimeball added to tone down my angry first response.

I liked the original prose myself.

I'd also invite the Hall Monitor to send me an email complaining about my equally silly and lewd behavior. I'll be very receptive.

:)

Re: Moderators, enjoy my sabbatical

Your posts always make me smile. If somebody is offended by them, they can refrain from reading them. There are some people's posts I don't read and I'm sure it works the other way also. So, I add my voice to those who are asking you to stay around.

A lot of people on the forum think it means "never mind", but my money is on New Mexico...

Re: Moderators, enjoy my sabbatical

Nah!

Be offensive - we need more in the running:

I'll hoist my cup to - dryer sheets, kayaks and curmudgeons.

I mean - what else is ER for?

heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh

Re: Moderators, enjoy my sabbatical

I thought it meant "No Mas." This could be a whole new thread.

OAP,

If you eat lutefisk for breakfast and kimchi for lunch your breath will keep even Ted Kennedy away.
