So what are we driving?

1997 Honda Accord sedan, 9 yrs old, ~79,000 miles on it

In the past few years, we've used it mostly just on the weekends, and we're thinking about selling or donating it. On the other hand, we might just keep it until it stops running.

...after being hit at 55 mph in a head-on wreck several years ago, I don't feel safe in a small car anymore. (A drunk driver turned left in front of my first Toyota Sienna and totaled it - when I look back at the wreck pictures, I don't know how my family walked away from it with only abrasians/bruises/cuts and a chipped tooth. We must have had a guardian angel that day..., plus good carseats, seatbelts and airbags). I can sure vouch for the safety of that particular model, though... it's incredible what the car went through, and yet somehow kept the people inside safe.
Glad you and your family were OK after that accident. I have heard that Toyota Sienna is highly-rated for safety.

2001 Honda Accord
2005 Honda CRV,
No I don't think Honda's are that great, but really like the dealership.

2002 Volvo S60 95,000 miles. Bought used Jan '05 with 55,000 miles to get head airbags. Risk of of side impacts is high when the corn is high. Drives great in the snow. Love this car.

1993 Volvo 850 150,000 miles. Bought used June 2001 with 111,000 miles. Hubby's run around car.

2000 Toyota Camry - ~93,000 miles. Free and clear. Still runs like a dream.

1995 Dodge RAM 1500, V8, shortbed, 185,000 miles
2003 Saturn VUE, 4 cyl., 93,000 miles

Both purchased new.

:)

2006 Pontiac Vibe, great gas milage, fold down back seats and hatch back are just right for carrying everything from dogs to yardsale booty. It's actually a Toyota Matrix under the Pontiac shell.

DH has a 2005 Chevy Avalanch he loves it and needs it to pull the trailer. We don't worry so much about the gas milage because 3/4 of the year he's on the bike.

1998 Honda Accord 50,000 miles
2003 Honda Accord 30,000 miles

paid cash for both

06 honda pilot for me (leased :-[ looking at the 90mpg 2009 prius when this one is up!)
lexus IS 340? for him, he works for them...

1990 integrawith 198k miles! waiting in the wings for jr...

A high-end german made car. I'm spoiled now from this particular brand of German cars

Hey, Drip Guy - Very cooool vette....

2000 Acura - 52K miles
2002 Jeep Gr Cherokee - 58K miles

2002 Honda Accord
97 Toyota Tacoma
74 Corvette
51vette_4-med.jpg

me - 2000 Honda Civic - 48k miles - ~25-26 mpg in urban driving, 38 mpg highway.
DW - 2000 Honda Accord - 80k miles

Very impressed by both.

1998 Olds Intrigue - 100k --- will drive it till it begins nickle and diming us. Probably another 2 years

2002 Volks Passat - 50k -- will drive it till it gives us problems probably another 6 to 8 years.

All Paid off!

Its funny, new and nice cars used to mean alot to me... but now that I can afford to own a luxury car, I do not want one.

I do not want to drive an eye sore or have an unreliable automobile... Past that, a car is primarily transportation to me.

Cycle- I am interested in your reply. What is a generic Giant Cross bike? Also, where do you live that you can get along with just these?

Giant makes several series of sturdy cross bikes for $250-$600.
The names of these series change every few years, so I call them "generic".
They have 21-24 speeds with wide gear ranges, decent quality components,
and are generally built for strength instead of speed (like me).

I have lived and cycled in the Los Angeles area for 28 years now. About 1/3 of
the time I owned a car, 1/3 a motorcycle, and 1/3 neither, although a bicycle
has always been my primary mode of transport, both commuting and vacations.
I developed the cycling habit (and money-handling habits) with 9 years of
paper routes growing up in Oregon. After all that rain-riding in OR, the sporadic
rains of LA barely register, except to close the river trails.

'03 subaru legacy wagon with 85k (plus 700 miles a week due to commuting)
'05 Honda Odyssey with 16k (kidmobile)

1997 Honda civic 4 door; stick. 120,000 miles
2001 Honda odessy van, automatic; 75,000
1992 Mazda miata; stick; 125,000.

DH and I trade what we drive depending on what we are doing.

Commutes use the smaller cars, unless there an afternoon carpool needs the van. Weekend errands depend on the activity (groceries don't fit in the miata); and family events, which include the 2 kids and a dog, use the van.

All are paid for, no plans to replace any time soon.

A pair of 2002 Camry XLEs, each with ~65k miles. Like new. :D

2000 Nissan Maxima, stick: 80,000 miles (me)
2001 Honda Civic, automatic: 77,000 miles (wife)

Both doing pretty good, hope they last 10 more years.

I would love to go back to riding my mountain bike back to work as I did in Seattle, but in Houston now I fear I would be DOA within a month or so.

2005 Ford Focus 35K miles, great car
1998 Jeep Cherokee 125K miles, great off road vehicle, 17 yr old son's favorite vehicle
1997 Mazda Miata 73K mi, wife will part with it when I pry it from her cold, dead hands
1985 VW Westfalia camper w/Subaru engine 150k mi, carries our kayaks and we're getting ready for Burning Man

2005 Volvo S60 gets 28.1 MPG lifetime, according to onboard computer 26k miles

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee 20 MPG :( Has 72k on it and never had a problem (knock on wood).

Got a pic of the Chevelle? :D Man, that is one awesome car! I am way jealous! Will have to tell my buddy who always has great old cars about you having that car and a Tortoise--he maintained he lost 5 yrs of "cool" for every yr he owned his Taurus--heh heh heh.

We've got two 1996 Saturns with 130k and 200k on 'em, and a 1985 Chevy pickup, plus the '75 Airstream motorhome, plenty to try and keep running! :D

2001 Impala LS - 35k (my "primary")
2002 Olds Aurora 3.5 - 20k (DW "primary")
2002 Mustang GT/Vert - 15K (my "sunday" car - <Sun has to be out before it comes out of the garage ;) >)

BTW - just traded in my '79 Olds Ciera (18 yrs) on the Auroa. Bought new, ran till 108K. Traded it due to safety (no air bags!) and part of our "retirement execution plan".

'86 Toyota Camry (Fuel Injected 4 banger-- Typically 32 MPG actual, 240K miles, runs great)-- My daily driver, our sports car.
'96 Honda Odyssey minivan: 4 Cyl, typically 22 MPG, Approx 140K. DW likes it a lot. We occassionally pull a small utility trailer with it, no trouble.
