I meant replacing a coil on an existing system is a lot cheaper than buying a whole new system, especially given the current refrigerant phase-out...the refrigerant used doesn't change with replacement parts.
Yes, that's exactly what I asked about. Different refrigerants have different vapor pressures and other properties, and may need thicker/thinner tube walls and smaller/larger diameters for the same tonnage. Something to think about if your obsolete compressor breaks down after changing coils. Could be a whole new system might be needed if they are not compatible. Just something to ask about before making decisions on the coil repair, especially given the current refrigerant phase-out.
