What we do for our kids...

It’s funny, my mom...85 years old, every time I come over says, “Can I fix you something?” It’s our parental nature.

This brings back fond memories of not being able to leave my parents house as an adult without food and /or "pocket money" being offered. She would get mad if I tried to refused, PARTICULARLY if I started with the "I am in good financial shape and do not need it" comments. Even the last time I saw mom alive she was still apologizing for not being able to send us off with food, and insisted on giving us "pocket money" for our kids and ourselves.

I would ask my sister who lived with her about this out of concern - after all, she was treating me and my 6 other siblings like this - but sis would just chuckle and say "she knows what she is doing. She doesn't want to spend much money on anything else. It is not going to bankrupt her and it makes her happy". I am glad mom knew that we appreciated this.
