Congrats!
Do you have any concerns that you will hear from Carl Sagan's estate?

No, I don't see that as a concern. There are actually a lot of books with the title "Contact" (including a romance book) as well as "First Contact," "The Contact," "Alien Contact," etc. There's even another book called "Contact Us" on call center training.
Maybe Jodie Foster will come after me. That would be okay.

I have to stay exclusive to Amazon for three months, but after that it will be there.

That's good. After that recent music copyright settlement, it seems anything vaguely similar is under suspicion.

OK, but from what I understand, she's unlikely to fulfill any of your fantasies.

But I guess it does not apply with book titles.
Anyhow, again - congrats on the book!

Seems to me I should be able to sue the publishers for continually changing the covers on books. I can't tell you how many times I bought a book, started reading it, and realized I already owned it. "a fool in a hurry" is a pretty good description.

Al, the best publicity ever would be to get into a copyright fight with Carl Sagan's estate. Imagine the press releases you could send out.

The cover images do look quite similar. What's frustrating about copyright/trademark is that there's rarely a clear line (maybe that's why there are so many cases). I don't think the cover images are similar enough but who knows?

Oh, right, I forgot about that.
My book will be free on April 19. You're welcome fellow cheapskates.

Creative ERs - books, blogs, music and art created by our members
I finished my next short book (technically a "novelette" at 52 pages).
It's available for pre-order on Amazon, but, of course, it's free for you guys (and for anyone who signs up for my mailing list). The easiest way for you to get it for free (Kindle version) is to sign up for my new releases mailing list (you'll get an automated email with a link to the free download). I send out very few emails, won't share your email address, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
If you really don't want to do that, send me a PM and I'll send you a link to the MOBI file (for Kindle).
Also, my second book, Drive, Ride, Repeat is permanently free on Amazon.
So help yourself if you haven't read it. I use that as a "funnel" book. About 150 people download that every day and get exposed to my other books.

My wife and I were able to FIRE in our early 30's thanks to you all!!
Hi everyone!
3.5 years ago I registered an account here and made this post:
27 and dreaming of retirement in 5 years. Am I crazy?I would like to post an update here that since that original post, my wife and I worked hard and were able to save up $1M!!
We calculated that we're comfortable living on a 3-4% withdrawal rate of $1M and FIRE'd in March! With our new-found freedom, our first adventure was to drive down to Costa Rica from California. After a bunch of research and planning, we sold most of our things in California, ended the lease on our rented home, and packed up our truck and drove down here!
Now we're here - currently renting a house next to the beach in Costa Rica, simply enjoying life!
Just wanted to say hello, send positive vibes to all and thank everyone on this forum for their help and inspiration!
If anyone has any questions, I'd be happy to answer anything!
For details on the $1M, this is a blog post we made which gives some detail on our savings: Financial Independence - How We Saved $1 Million By Age 30
