Experian won't let me thaw credit online

I just ran into a problem thawing my credit with Experian.

They return a message that says they can't thaw it. No reason given why. It seems I have to do it the old fashioned way and gather up certain ID information and mail it to them.

Yes, I have my freeze/thaw code.

Curious, I went to the site that gives us the once a year free credit report. My Experian report is not available.

I have done nothing credit wise for about year.

Anybody else had this problem?

Just noticed we have a thread on this type of problem already and I am not suffering alone in Credit Bureau Heck. :-)

Here's the thread:

This has been exactly my worry about doing a credit freeze. I'll be following this thread closely.

Had mine frozen for years and only unfroze once for a good deal on tires if opened a cc account. I've changed insurance and not been required to unfreeze. I'm sure something could come up where I need to unfreeze, but I wouldn't trade that potential hassle for opening it up. I think it's hilarious that Experian is offering on TV to go on "dark web" and see if your SSN is out there. What? Maybe I don't understand how searches work but going on DW to see if my SSN is there just sounds terribly wrong!

The credit monitoring industry enjoys about as low an opinion of any I have opinions on.
