Freakin Friday Tunes

I listen to the radio.  A local college station has exceptionally eclectic programming.

This morning's list...

shuggy Otis: Strawberry letter 23
Allman Bros: Midnight rider
NY Dolls: Looking for a kiss
Rolling Stones: When the whip comes down
Willie Nile: Welcome to my head
Steppenwolf: The Pusher
Tom Petty: Jammin' me
Dion: Who do you love
Flaming Lips: Yeah yeah yeah
Soft Boys: Cold Turkey
Los Lobos: Shakin' shakin' shakes

It's sort of like a diversified portfolio.  Some of the stuff I hear, I really dislike, but But in addition to those that I know I do like I'm exposed to some real plesant surprises.

Oh. Another thing, related to your thread about leaving the forum.

I wouldn't have responded to this music topic if it were originated by any one else.

Blind Faith is on the radio now. "It's All Right!"

My CD mix for the ride into work - light traffic -- starting to be a good day, I'm outtahere at 11:30, weather is beautiful, should be home by 12:30, think I'll dust off the bike and get in the wind for a bit.

Man in the Box - Alice in Chains
Ain't Wastin Time No More - Allman Brothers
Until You Come Back To Me - Aretha Franklin
Can't Find My Way Home - Blind Faith
For What It's Worth - Buffalo Springfield
Fire Woman The Cult
Vehicle - Ides of March
Drive - Incubus
Don't You Want Somebody to Love - Jefferson Airplane
Good Times Bad Times - Zeppelin
Dazed and Confused - Zeppelin
How You Remind Me - Nickleback
Blurry - Puddle of Mud
Drift and Die - Puddle of Mud
It's Been A While - Staind

I just love being able to burn my own songs.

Hendrix did a version Of "Sunshine of Your Love"?

I'm with youse guys; listen to the UNT student station (jazz), but mostly CDs.

Lately, Joe Satriani, Steely Dan, Doors, George Thoroughgood...

I've been enjoying the Pandora station I made, but what I'm totally thrilled with is my new software toy, Magix Audio Cleaning Lab, which I'm using to burn my old albums (lp) to digital, clean up the crackles, and add to the iPod. I'm obsessed with it--the latest favorites from the archives:
Hot Rod Lincoln from Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen's Lost in the Ozone and Willin' from Little Feat's Sailin' Shoes.
This weekend I hope to digitize 20-30 more of the old albums--I still listen on the turntable, but this way I can enjoy them on the road as well.

Sarah

Thanks for the software tip; need to start on my stack of 250 lps...

Rolling Stones: Gimme Shelter, Paint it Black and Honkey Tonk Woman... cranked up on the way into work this morning

My CD player only holds 6 CD's. :(  Right now the six are: Delbert McClinton (downloaded collection), Johnny Winter (downloaded collection), Joe Cocker (Mad Dogs and Englishmen), Eric Clapton (Cream of Clapton), Blues Traveler (Four), and B.B. King (Live at the Regal).  Old Age Pensioner, I applaud your taste.

Probably listening to the wrong stuff, but Vai's recorded work doesn't do much fer me. Same for Adrian Belew...

But their on-stage work with Zappa was nothing short of phenomenal...

hey man, thanks for the heads up. I just started streaming this station at work and I like it! Live in L.A., and unless you're really into ranchero/banda there isn't **** on the radio.

ZZ Top - Pearl Necklace  :D

Aw man, high school flashback! Awkward moment when my buddy was getting into that song and his (soon to be ex) girlfriend said, "why do you like this song, you want to give me a pearl necklace?" :-X

Wheels on the bus go 'round and round
Mary had a little lamb
Some other similar stuff that my brain simply refuses to process anymore.

How 'bout a few rousing choruses of the Barney The Purple Dinosaur song?

Gosh I miss those days... NOT.

No barney the anti christ allowed here.
Ah, nice try, but Gabe'ss just gonna pick it up from the other kids in the school bathrooms... or on street corners. Far better for him to learn it from his parents where you can put the appropriate spin on such a difficult subject!

I can't help you with TeleTubbies, but lemme know when you're ready to step up to Blue's Clues and the Wiggles.

well I went out and bought a cd based on a song I heard on the college radio from non seq. radio earth - bird in a house on the elko album... good stuff!

So yea it's Saturday but while I was out doing my weekend errands I was listening to

Anita Baker Same ole Love
Elton John Blue Eyes
George Straight Run
Chicago Hard Habit to Break
BB King The Thrill Is Gone
Hall & Oates Sara Smile
Dionne Warwick Walk On By
Dionne Warwich DeJvue
Janet Jackson That's The Way Love Goes
Christopher Cross Sailing

Right now I have Sade's Greatest Hits CD playing

Anyone see the Flaming Lips on Letterman last Thursday? Awesome, quirky band.
