the "wet" phone came with the 2-yr contract and is pretty dead now.

I'm thinking getting a used one from ebay, will just about any verizon phone work or does it have to be certain kind of verizon phone? I know the prepaid ones won't work.

thanks.

I lost mine last year in a pool, the Verizon rep suggested an eBay phone. It can't be any old phone because I have phones from prior years that no longer "qualify". I would only suggest any purchase you make have return privileges.

Depends what phone you have but if you can open iand 'dry' it up, it may actually work. I showered with Sony Ericsson W550i in my pocket. I took out the back cover and battery. Kept it open in the sun for 2 days and it started working again. I was using it until last month.

wierd solution...

Try sticking it in a plastic bag full of dry rice and leaving for a couple days.

My daughter's iphone got drenched...we did that and it came back to life.

I think the theory is that the dry rice sucks the moisture out of the phone.

Strange. Worked for us. No clue if its repeatable...and I'm not going to toss her phone in the water to find out! :)

Good luck.

First of all, immediately remove the battery and dry off all visible water. Then, either the "bury it in dry rice for 48 hrs" or "dry with a hand-held hairdryer set on low" (this may take a few hours, btw) or "bake in a 200-degree oven for a few hours" are all tricks that have worked in the past.

Good luck.
