Screen names

Cooch is the phonetic pronunciation of the first syllable of my surname. Cooch96 was the handle stitched onto my high school letterman jacket.

Because I like broccoli and asparagus.

I'm from the Chicago area (and am a gal ;)), and have had various forms of ChicagoGal in many forums for decades now. I think it started with chatting on the old Prodigy message boards via a dial up modem, when everyone I knew thought I was crazy to have a computer IN MY HOUSE.

When I moved to the suburbs (18 years ago), I thought about changing it, but DuPageGal just didn't have the same ring.

Ed is one of my names and I traveled the world for work.

The current avatar is the old logo from Richland High. It says, "Proud of the Cloud". Richland is one of two places that made uranium for the first A-bombs. It is in-your-face politically incorrect, which is me. I am not a nice man.

I never went to RHS, by the way.

I don't think I had found this board during the last thread related to user names

Some say it is related to the fact that I was a nuclear submariner but they would be wrong

I'm Al. I currently live in Ohio. I migjt need to revise this if I decide to reside in a second warmer home.

It feels great to finally reach the FI goal after many years of saving and investing. At this point, I'm just waiting for the exit ramp with the golden parachute at the end to fulfill the "freedom" part completely.

:smitten:Well....

Actually DH called me this once in a financial sense when I convinced him to move most of his megacorp retirement money (I think it was still called "profit sharing" back then) out of company stock and into other options as soon as the plan offered them. That turned out well. So it seemed like a good user name for a website devoted to FIRE.
Loved that!

I live right outside of Charlotte NC.

Beer is one of my primary interests. Love the stuff.
There are very few areas involving beer that I haven't been (or occasionally still am) involved in.

30 years in the timber industry. And nothing to do with Viagra as I was asked on another forum.

This handle is usually available. Anyone that googled it would probably know my name and who I am, but never worried about it. I've been using it since "Alta Vista", if that rings a bell with any a you young- uns. Even before I walked out of the megacorp, I was freely posting here about my plans to leave. Shoot, they couldn't find their "ear" with either hand, I'm sure they didn't have time to troll for people ready to fire. Now I'm not sure why anonymity is important...I've never made it a priority. We know that the NSA knows who we all are (or would quickly find out if we became a "person of interest"). So that leaves a regular guy that wants to confront me about my take on filling up the 15% bracket with Roth conversions, or something like that. I don't think I'm nearly intersting enough to bother with! So have I said enough for everyone to figure out my handle includes my name? I went on quite a long pitch on anonymity, or lack thereof.
