Nice, but glad I wasn't there! I've had it with snow but photos are okay.

Nice. They rarely hold still long enough for me to get a shot of them.

Not a real photographer, but I always take snapshots during travel with my pocket camera. Here's a recent one on the shore of Kalaloch, and one taken in the Hoh Rainforest.

Saw this rainbow in a cloud at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon and really was enthralled with the colors.

Lucky you... being in the right place at the right time. Great shot.

Just a grab shot from last night - went to pull the window shade down and saw this spider right outside the window. I didn't tell DW, she would have freaked. All are lit with off-camera flash.

Great shots Walt. Incredible use of flash - no glare shooting through the window.

The trick is to hold the flash at an angle greater or less than the angle of the lens to the glass so the reflection goes elsewhere. Clearly an on-camera flash won't work.

This is a great book on the topic of lighting and angles, and dealing with photographing things like a wine bottle or a glass of beer. Much more thought has to go into lighting those photos than is apparent. Light, Science and Magic. I have the previous edition and might buy the next after this one. It is an evolving art.

My dog's heart conditioning is worsening so the vet prescribed her a bunch of new medications. Now she's on atenolol, lasix, benazepril, and pimobendan. Anyway I was playing with my T/S lens and here's a quick picture.

I had some fun at the airport this afternoon. It was overcast and cool, but I still had to deal with heat haze as I was nearly 1 mile away from the runway.

Big plane indeed! I was able to catch 3 of them landing in a fairly short period of time. I used my Canon SX50HS, which has an impressive zoom for such a compact -and affordable- camera. The planes' registration numbers are fully readable on my pics, from a mile away! There was a guy next to me taking pics with a 2-foot long telephoto lens (a passer-by called it a bazooka). I have no idea how good his pictures turned out, but I was quite pleased with mine (the heat haze unfortunately ruined many shots).
