I am officially - a MILLIONAIRE - at age 33 and a LOT of sacrifices

Impressive!!
Congratulations!

Now that you hit this milestone the compounding will work for you much faster. I agree with the others, try to enjoy your life a little more with not as many sacrifices. Make sure you don't delay all your experiences til a later day that may never come. Balance in everything.

Enjoy your holiday!

Congratulations... What was your biggest sacrifice?

Congrats.... How did you accomplish this goal so fast?

To answer both questions:

I started with nothing and paid my own way through university. Graduated during that awful Great Recession of 2009 (worst year to graduate in a very long time!). But I eventually became a specialist engineer that would be sent to various remote (and dangerous!) locations all over the world. In one year I did over 300 working days out of the country, and all of those days were minimum 12-hour working days (I sometimes did 24-hour shifts) . Basically I was a zombie for several years for that six figure paycheck. It wasn't actually making that high of an hourly wage, since I was doing a heck of a lot of hours, but it was a big paycheck none-the-less.

Then I lived VERY frugally, saving a lot of my income, and taught myself how to invest those savings. I actually switched careers a couple times at this point, but that's the gist of it.

(And I actually do have a partner, though they have not had any bearing on me reaching this goal. If anything, relationships greatly slowed down my progress. There's just been struggles and we need to figure out if we are going to be a great "team" for the long haul or not.)

Thanks again everyone for the words of encouragement

Congratulations on achieving this big milestone. You have done very well so far and I anticipate that you will be far ahead in the future...

One thing that sticks out to me though is you say it was reached with great sacrifice. My suggestion is maybe slow down the extreme saving and cut loose a little.

I'd echo both parts. Many congratulations to you on your achievement!

But, as they say, 'all work and no play...' You might find yourself being happier if you let off the throttle a bit now that you've achieved that milestone. And even if/when your net asset figure drops a bit, you still have quite a sizable nest egg :)

Well like others have said, markets brought me back down, and up again, so I have now reached the 1M mark for the second time already

This is awesome to read

I can't seem to find an investor even right now. I'm struggling hard and harder not having my money work for me.
At 33 you are killing it.

It was pretty easy to make the $1 million mark last year...lots and lots of opportunities...

One of my goals from last year was to get another $ million and then this year try to compliment that with enough that I could draw out the $1 million and pay all the taxes owed so I would have a $ million tax free in the bank...

I missed the $ million by $7K, not so bad, but still off target... this year is proving to be a little more of a challenge... the markets are in a strange flux right now...

a lesson learned - this is more like a job than a real job... you have to watch the pre markets, the daily market and the after markets all day long and every day.. sometimes even on the weekends... it has taken many many hours to make this work... but it is doable..
