Free TurboTax Premier from Fidelity

Yep, got it installed and started my 2018 return!

I just downloaded from the link. I found it odd that while the cost is $0.00, I still had to go thru the ordeal of entering my CC info. Oh well, they will have all of this year's tax info, why not give them that too?

OK... at first, I got the broken link. Then it worked and I got the same online offer that others posted (pay when you file??). Just ignore all that. At the top of the page, pull down on "Products & Pricing" and select "CD/Download products." From there, you have the familiar free download of Premier including 5 free federal e-files.

There might be a simpler way, but that's how I found the download/desktop version, in case that helps anyone.

Anyway, I have the download version for free, ran the updates, and now it's importing my info from last year.
Thanks for checking that. I downloaded my copy and am installing now. :greetings10:

Yep, this is the key. Just downloaded mine.

Thanks for the detail, Cobra9777. And thanks to Fidelity!

+1 :)

Appreciate you guys figuring this out so I can lazily follow your path without having to hold the grass down myself... with apologies to George Carlin... :)

Just $20.00 off TT

All I get when I log in to Fidelity is an offer for $20.00 off any TT product. Maybe there is some sort of prerequisite for the free Premier?

Okay I got the free offer on my home page, even though my Fidelity rep told me just 2 weeks ago that the discount is $20.

I also was missing the above reference link on m Summary Page but after checking with my Private Client folks, who could see it, I realized it was hidden in the Customize this Page feature. For me, it appears on the upper right corner of the Summary Page. Click on it and you should see a window that offers "two new cards" or something similar. Open and you will see an option for "Free Turbo Tax"
As referenced above, you then after follow the ensuring links to login to your Turbo Tax account and proceed like you are doing an online version.
I did find that the link apparently is busy and had to try a couple times to get actually get the required link
Good Luck

I may be forced to do the online version. I finally got the download but can't get the file to execute to finish the install on my laptop. Says I have a windows update in process and I can wait or cancel the execution. I rebooted the computer to see what would happen and it did indeed finish a windows update before rebooting. Go back in to execute the file and same thing.....windows update in progress but there is no icon in lower right corner showing an update.

I hardly ever use my windows 7 laptop anymore so not surprised that updates were needed but seems to be stuck. Might be a good time to bite the bullet and just go with my Chromebook as I had planned to do at some point anyway. I'm not going to keep buying a Windows laptop just to do taxes.

Can someone just post a link? I've been with Fidelity for decades as a premium customer.

Thanks.

This shows up on the summary view after logging in? Because we’re not seeing any mention of TurboTax.

Did it go away?

Not mine, it shows up at the bottom right side of the summary page.

Mine showed up on the bottom left of the summary page. I think it depends on your customized settings.

It’s not at the bottom of the summary page on either side. It used to show up bottom right.

Have looked everywhere on that summary page, believe me. Just isn’t there.

I've had it in several different places on the summary page. This year it was bottom left.

Yes, mine is in bottom left too. Sometimes it’s under a tile or whatever it’s called and you need to click the plus sign. See my screen capture.

I have a link to the free online version on my Fidelity homepage. In the past, I would get the free downloadable version. I don't see a link to that.....not sure if they are going to offer the downloadable version. Anyone know?

See post #50.

Here is why some of you see the offer and some don't. You have to qualify for "Active Trader Services" or "Active Trader VIP" (see Clipboard03).

"Active Trader Services" requires you have both the # trades and the dollar amount. "Active Trader VIP" could give it to you if you just have a million dollars with Fidelity, so I'm told.

The free TurboTax shows up under Advanced services (see Clipboard02)

We have gotten Premier free download for the past several years. Our Fidelity investment dollars are still at the same level.

And we’ve never been Active Trader VIP or qualified for active trader services.

No, as was pointed out earlier in this thread, that is only one way to get the offer. Private Client Group customers who have nothing to do with Active Trader also get it.

But there are nuances and differences that Fidelity doesn't publish. If you think you qualify but don't see it, the best thing to do is contact your PCG rep and ask.

I guess that’s what we have to do. When DH logged onto his account on my machine, the summary page was different, included an offer for three different tax software programs (not the same as shown in images posted above and not at the bottom of the page) and clicking through the links did not get to any TurboTax product at $0, just the $20 off offers.

We’ll be calling our rep soon.
