Urolift? Anyone had it?

Well, not private, but your could provide video as evidence, and let a few members judge 1st prize.

It would have to be a distance competition.
But you would get extra points for writing your name in the snow!

Hi - my urologist suggested the Urolift this morning and am investigating. How have you done with the Urolift? about a year ago. Recovery, side ffects, benefits, problems,..
Many thanks

Another prostate operation questions - I had the Green Light laser procedure about 3 years ago. It has fixed my issue with urge. It has left me with the ejaculation issue which I do not find too objectionable.

However, I have had 3 urinary tract infections in the 3 years. As you might know, it is rare for men to get them. I had not had them until after my procedure.

Has this been a side effect of your procedure? I am trying to learn if this is an issue with my procedure. Thanks

Easy recovery, I didn't need to be cathed and post surgery no negative effects.

Been there, got that...odd feeling........Retrograde.

Had one, (thankfully no repeats), after a kidney stone blasting, (ended up with sepsis in hospital), but prior to having Green Light.....hope to avoid another (somehow). Added: I now drink copious amounts of water in a so far successful attempt to keep from having an infection recurrence.

As to the Green Light.....pleased.....good urine flow.

My husband had one done three years ago. He said it doesn't work anymore...

I am exploring surgical options for BPH - the Urolift or Rezum. Good information here and I have scheduled an appointment with a urologist.

I also contacted my insurance provider, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and basically they said that either procedure would be considered investigational and not covered until I went thru either a 1 or 3 month course of oral medications to relieve BPH symptoms. My original thought was I would rather get the surgery done, not take life long medications, and minimize side effects. Guess I can't get to that stage until after med trial.

Have others run into this too?

I've been on Tamsulosin for BPH for 3 years. Still works OK (not like a teenage boy though). I have had NO side effects. I'm keeping on this until such time as the med doesn't work anymore.

This was my approach as well. The meds worked ok at first. In time, Tamsulosin lost its effectiveness. My urologist changed to another Med. My condition was the same so had the Green Light procedure.

Dave, how long did the meds work if you care to share? I'm 3 years in so far.

Yes that is pretty standard. Didn't work for me.

Thanks, I'm almost 77 with three years on the med so maybe if things go like they are now, I won't need a surgery. But who knows?

Not sure it matters but I was about 55 when I started. While the operation was very successful short of the infections I am experiencing now, the medication was fine and I had no side effects.

I'll just keep my fingers crossed, but if the medication becomes less effective, I'll go for the Green Light surgery (if I qualify).

My husband had the urolift three years ago. Gave up on it and had the green light procedure a week ago. He's peeing like a race horse now! He said he forgot how it was supposed to be. Wishes he would have done it sooner.

What's the "green light" procedure? What happened with the original urolift. Many thanks.

My story; Im 57 and began having prostate issues about 2-3 years ago. Went on Flomax in 2019 and it did relieve some of my symptoms, but I was still getting up 3-5 times a night to use the bathroom. Two weeks ago I got hit with a horrendous UTI. Put on antibiotics and felt better after a few days. Several days after I completed that course, the UTI came back. Placed on a different anti-biotic. It helped, but I never felt like it would cure the infection. I had been going to urgent care for these RXs. Yesterday, I went to a urologist to discuss the re-current infection as well as my suitability for resum, urolift, or laser. Upon arrival, I provided a sample. After a discussion with the urologist, ne asked me to fully urinate again (30 minutes after the first trip to the bathroom). They then did an ultrasound on my bladder. After two trips to the bathroom in 30 minutes, my bladder still held over 8 oz of urine. The failing to fully void my bladder allows the bacteria to multiply and in my case, infect the protate. I will be on an extended anti-biotic regime as prostate infections are difficult to cure. He also doubled my Flomax to see if this will help me fully void. I go back in six weeks to see where we are at.

To the urologist today. Hasn't been six weeks; I moved my appointment up two weeks as I has another significant infection this past weekend. In bed for several days with chills, fatigue, aches, and of course, the urination of razor blades. I was not placed on antibiotics after the last appointment even though he suspects a prostate infection, not a UTI. I guarantee that I will be placed on antibiotics after today's appointment! This has gone on for six weeks now.
