Chiming in to support you and your family, Alan. Picture all of us from E-R.org crowded into your son's room with flowers, balloons and best wishes. Not that the nurses would approve.

This is such good news and I hope and pray for his continued healing.
Wishing the best for the entire family.

We called this morning at 09:15 and the nurse said that he had had a restful night, his stats looked good and they would probably try to bring him off the ventilator later today, so best to call back in a few hours. We decided to call at 15:00.

We did various things to keep busy and at 14:30 were installing an automatic window opener on the new greenhouse when he called me. (I have a specific ringtone for him).

He is now off the ventilator and back on the CPAP machine with the "space helmet" dome machine. It was absolutely wonderful hearing his voice and talking with him. We'll call the ICU later today for more details but it certainly looks like he is on the road to recovery.

Just finished a 10 am prayer for Jeffrey when I saw this. Wonderful! Prayers being answered. I would like to see a picture of him with his space helmet machine.

Thinking back to a few days ago when they were talking about two weeks on the ventilator, that's remarkably good progress. Congratulations on what looks like outstanding treatment. :)

How wonderful I can't imagine how you felt when your phone rang..

I'm continuing to pray for his recovery and for less stress for Mom and Dad.

So wonderful!!!! Continued positive energy and prayers for further healing being sent!!!

So happy for you and your family.

Wow Alan such a great update!

So cool that you got to talk to him already. Are they saying anything about his shorter need for the ventilator? I just wondered if they had an intervention or if they're saying he was quicker to fight it off.

What wonderful news!!! Thank you for letting us know.

I'm so delighted for you all. Thank you so much for keeping the board updated.

It's just underlining for me how much more dangerous this UK variant is - and sadly it is surging here in quite a few states.

We were both working in the greenhouse when the phone in my zipped pocket started playing the Imperial Death March from Star Wars. Had to scramble to put down tools and retrieve my phone.

Absolutely amazing to get to talk to him. We were hoping that they were going to be successful bringing off the ventilator today but never expected to talk to him.

Don't have a photo of his CPAP space helmet but I imagine it looks a bit like this.

I am thrilled also. Such great news. Thanks for updating, because I think of him and your family often.

Just spoke with the ICU nurse looking after him and while he is making great progress he is not out of the woods yet and if the CPAP machine doesn't do it they will have to put him back on the ventilator. He hates the CPAP, saying it is like being in a wind tunnel and the nurse said that she has agreed that it will be 1 hour on, 1 hour off, but overnight he has to be on CPAP because breathing is naturally light while sleeping and he needs to keep up a good flow of air into his lungs. When not on CPAP he has an oxygen feed through the nose.

Thanks for sharing the great news! Prayed for him a mass today and will keep him in my prayers!

It is amazing how much of a relief this good news is to us onlookers. I can't imagine going through this with DS or DD.

Alan, once again you have made my day. Things sound very promising. We are continuing to keep you, Jeffery and Irene in our thoughts. Thank you so much for keeping us informed.
