Tax software functionality and deals

Fidelity Premiere Customer rep turned down our $100.00 goodwill gesture for the purchase of TurboTax Premiere. Been getting that goodwill in our joint savings for years. Turned down immediately. Will just have to fork out the money for the software.

What does that mean, you've been getting it for free in previous years and they said no more to you?

Anyone else being refused for the first time this year?

Just to add has anyone used FreeTaxUSA? It looks like it'll do everything I need for federal.

Save the installer (usually a disk image) in case your machine dies and you need to install it on a new one. It can be difficult or impossible to simply transfer the application itself.

Will do - Thanks.

Yes, was given goodwill of $100.00 for the last number of years into our joint savings account. You can then purchase the software where you like. So, the software was free for us each year.

I just paid $42.42 for TT deluxe how you say, Discover has 2 things going with Amazon, 5% cashback, and a $10.00 account credit at Amazon for making Discover your default there. Still get the $10 gift card too. Plus $2.12 cashback.

Just add your Discover® Card to Amazon.com and set it as your default payment method by 12/1/2021. Then get a $10 credit toward your next eligible purchase(s) at Amazon.com using your Discover Card until 1/31/2022 or while supplies last. Restrictions apply. See details.*

Nope, but when I see it for the deluxe with State ~$21 is when I'll buy as that's a good enough sale.
I bought H&R fed and state last year on Cyber Monday with a coupon for an extra couple of bucks off the already discounted price. I think I paid around $19.

Amazon is bundling a $10 Amazon gift card with any TurboTax download until midnight tonight. Unless you don’t ever buy anything on Amazon, it’s the same as an additional $10 off on your next Amazon purchase. So I just bought Premier Fed+State for net $59.99, and you can buy Deluxe Fed+State for net $39.99 (example link below). It takes some searching on Amazon, but if you search for the exact version you want with “gift card”, it comes right up.

They will do this offer periodically, e.g. I took advantage of the same package deal in Jan last year.

Looking for something that does K-1 investments. Been using TaxAct for years but they seem to keep raising their prices for the Premier.

Thanks. That's not bad. I looked at least year and I got same deal net $29.99 the day after Christmas. TT/Amazon seem to always run a deal on day after.

But I can't tell if this $39.99 is the "new" deal, which might apply if TT raised their base price?

How about folks who've been getting free download links through Fidelity in previous years?

Probably too early but anyone check or see indications whether Fidelity will continue or not?

IME you don’t. Premier makes investment income and Roth conversions easier, but you can handle both with Deluxe as I have for 2-3 years now, it’s just a little less interview automated. All the forms are there. Intuits comparison table is misleading at best.
Do you know if TT Deluxe has automatic import of transactions?

This year I have accounts at Vanguard, Schwab and Interactive Brokers. I know TT has support for transaction imports from all of those brokers, along with many others.

I'm probably fueling their behavior with my TT Premier purchase, but it's going to be a complicated year for me, with too many transactions to type in by hand. I'll probably spot check the largest ones, then trust the rest.

Always has in the past, and probably does for 2021 as well but I can’t guarantee that…Intuit could change some year.
Yes, The Desktop Deluxe Version can import 1099 Info etc. All the Desktop programs have the same forms. You just get more help and guidance in the higher versions.

The thing is that once you go ahead and get your best deal on Deluxe, if you find that you actually need Premier, you can just upgrade. I think the cost is the retail difference so maybe not the greatest deal, but probably still a good deal. It seems like even when they put TT on sale, they still keep the same differential between the various versions.

I may be paranoid, but the idea of launching all my private financial data into cyberspace leaves me nervous. I just downloaded the software to my PC.

This is the main reason I want to download the TT version. No way am I going to upload my personal info. I’ll keep it all on my incripted copy at home on my computer thanks.

If you efile, your private financial data has been launched into cyberspace.

Yes but it goes encrypted straight to the irs where they supposedly have high security. Using TT online is sending more details than just the filing forms and to a additional source.

Just got this in an email from Turbo Tax.

Unfortunately, it looks like the $10 Amazon credit for setting your default payment to a Discover card is not available to everyone. You have to be invited via email or click on an advertisement (no doubt on Amazon's site).

I remember I took advantage of the same promotion a year or two ago. Via googling, I was able to get to the current promotion page, but it says I'm not eligible for the offer.

So, YMMV.

In the past this offer has almost always been in the middle of December, so at least a few weeks yet before we know if they'll do it again this year.
If they do, it will just pop up on the page when you log in to your account.

I don't transfer my other financial stuff, I just type it in. The headers are all the same from last year, so just fill in the boxes.

MOD NOTE
More posts were deleted from this thread.

Again, we do not allow links to sites offering illegal software.
Don't post them here.

I would've thought the Federal Office of Personnel Management had high security too, yet China got personal details on many citizens with security clearances. Still I e-file every year.

I've settled on my strategy. A few weeks ago, Fidelity reached out to me for a "personal relationship," blah, blah. I met with the guy and actually it was pretty good, and he established no pressure to me. This may get me "a link." We'll see.

Failing that, I'm waiting for the day(s) after Christmas which have been reliably giving the best TT deal through the years.

Have always got a $100.00 goodwill amount put in to our Joint Savings account at Fidelity in years past when we asked for it. Used the monies to pay for TurboTax Premier.
Contacted our Premium Services rep this year, and he turned us down flat.
We have good amount of money at Fidelity in retirement/savings/brokerage accounts. We also do a significant amount of trades each year.
Disappointing to say the least.
