Had bloodwork done and walked over to urgent care for my messed up foot, ankle, leg. She managed to get hold of the spot on my Achilles that's kinda the center of my issues. She has me treating the symptoms with the elevation, ice, and tylenol. I go back in 5 days to see what is next. I think this is going to be a long process.

Watched the market bounce around most of the day before the late afternoon free fall... I bought in big time near the close. (well big time for me anyway) Maybe I should post this in the blow your dough thread... I guess time will tell.

^^^^^^ Was Top Gun as good as I'm hearing?

Helped a friend deal with a broken water pipe between the main line and his house. OUCH!

Later, I put a new cabin filter in my car. It is unbelievable how much junk that filter picks up.

Next up, check the the filter that cleans the air cooling the my hybrid car's battery pack. Clean filter = cooler running batteries = longer battery life.

Mowed the front half of the yard and replaced the air filter on the lawn mower. Did some more reading on the history of lawns in America, primarily because another thread about them.

Found a link on here to The Retirement Manifesto and read a bunch of stuff.

Tomorrow we head to our to possible retirement area for as couple nights for "research". :D

It's been hot. 111F high today. I've been indoors mostly, not being outside much.

I am still undecided on how to expand my solar+battery system. It's too hot to do any actual installation anyhow, so this will have to wait till end of the year. Meanwhile, what do I do?

I am going out now to my liquor cabinet to get myself a stiff drink. I have not had a shot in a while.

OMG I see the high temps in the south. Some morning and some days I still have long johns on yet. Somedays short by after lunch. AC we may use 3 to 5 times a summer and only in the afternoon by evening we can open up the windows.

Today it rained some of the morning so in the afternoon I went and mowed grass for the State University research facilities. About 12 acres to mow so it is an eight hour job.

113F today at 2PM. Some high clouds rolled in, and now at 5:47PM it has "cooled" down to 106F.

I have been literally "lying flat" today, in the cool 78F air with the help of the ACs.

Been telling people, when there's a rolling blackout, a lot of weaker people are not going to make it.

I know I am weak, so I have to protect myself with my DIY solar+battery system.

Being a drummer , I spend a few hours every Friday in the studio.

It’s ironic , because my wife pushed me to get back in to drumming in retirement and now she is pushing me to cut back my days in the studio …you can’t win. Lol

Today was a "work day" at the R/C flying site, doing maintenance stuff on airplane stands, the set-up tables, mowing the runways and a couple of us did get a couple flights in when work paused or was at one far end of the field.

Busy busy day. Got out early to fix the fence so neighbors goats don’t come over and feast on fruit in my orchard. Pruned trees and sprayed herbicide too.

And the days not complete without a workout on my mtn bike.

And was told by neighbors that a bear wandered up the creek line a couple nights ago. That explains my broken fence and neighbors barking dogs in the middle of the night.

Cleaned the house, looked for assisted living options for a family member, gave my dog a bath, went Jet skiing and made my DW dinner

Yesterday I donated blood (double reds). I was surprised at how few people were there - usually 8-10 donors, during my time there only 2 other people were donating. Found out one of my favorite workers there (in previous chatting we figured out we are just a year apart and grew up in the same city rooting for the same teams) had retired. Good for him.

Then I went to Arbys to try the exalted Wagyu Burger for lunch. No shortages, was given on promptly. Price after tax was $6.67. It tasted pretty good. I will not be a regular consumer (everything in moderation :) ) but it will do for an occasional treat.

In the evening helped a friend who is not computer literate straighten out several issues with his windows system he uses for his work (he is an electrical contractor). Nothing major, and I taught him along the way things he can do to avoid the issues he ran into. It took several hours but I enjoy troubleshooting so for me it was "fun". Surprisingly he wanted to pay me for my time, I said no way. He thinks it strange that I found this type of work fun, but to each his own :).

:LOL::LOL::LOL:

I've been trying to teach the DW how to use a PC for years.... I swear, I can teach my dog new tricks MUCH quicker than I can teach the DW anything about PC's. Every time the PC gets messed up she blames the machine. I've just learn to say "yes dear", can I help fix the stupid machine...

This morning, before it got too hot, I went out to the backyard to lay down two unmounted solar panels on the pool deck, and jury-rigged the wiring to the solar+battery installation. The effort is to get some more juice.

I still have 4 more of these 330W panels, and may wire more in if I can find a good spot in the sun for them.

I still have to go to a graduation dinner party this evening. Not looking forward to it in this heat, but it's something I cannot get out of.

Woke up at 4:15 yesterday and was on the road by 4:45am to go pick up younger son from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. I had sternly warned him that I wanted him packed/ready so we could make it south again before rush hour traffic. He was mostly packed, but had to clean the room... 2.5 hours later we left SLO. Hit traffic the entire way home except for Thousand Oaks and south of Oceanside.

Got home with the boy and his stuff 16 hours after I left. Oye.

But the nice thing is when we arrived home, older son was in the living room... down for a visit. So both boys are in town, and the family is chillin'.

I recently visited my friend who was a bit south of there. Traffic on Freeway 101 was terrible. Looking at the map, one can easily see why.

we finished backfilling and grading the independent living facility garage today. It is fast tracked and we worked a rare Saturday on it.
Then a friend stopped by for a visit with her hounds. My JRT loves a good visit.

Drove or to the ranch and mowed and weed whacked after lunch. Came back home and went to a memorial for a friend that passed away from covid late wintah. He was 69 and was a picture of health and was fully vax. It was a sad afternoon seen many old friends which most are retired now. In a small western community, everyone knows everyone somehow or way. We all are aging gracefully, and time will tell who is next in line.

Life is short and just 5 more minutes, we aren't guaranteed

I've had a small metal lathe for 40 years that I use very infrequently. Today I machined an axle for my kayak dolly so I could install some wheels off a golf bag cart. The wheels pop off and the whole thing disassembles so it fits in the bulk head of the kayak. Looks like this only without steel wheels and pneumatic tires.

That is a great useful project!! Do you need to have license for that trailer??

Another cool, rainy day here. Don't mind it a bit, windows open for fresh air, no need to water the garden.
Laundry and other housework on tap today. Fun times.

 No, it is just to transport the kayak from the parking lot to the water. I also use it when camping to haul water jugs.
