    ACA questions

I’m in a county near Davidson and Vanderbilt university medical center acute care hospital is in network for our BCBS of TN EPO policy. None of the out of state are listed as in network but I have not called to ask.

    ACA questions

Fellow TN resident here. We will be going back on the ACA soon. Is BCBS an option in your county and did you check BCBS for Vanderbilt? Thank you for the information.

    LED Headlights

I have a 2019 F150 XLT and I changed out the original dim lights for LED lights from Amazon right after I bought it. It was a pretty easy job and they are so much better. I changed out low and high beams.

    6th SWFL ER.org Get-together

Thank you for the date range. Though we retired several years ago our youngest is graduating in December and that allows us to travel when we want too again. The dates will work perfectly.

What stretch of your career was or is the hardest? (Class of 2026 through 2029?)

Marko, your second sentence is pretty descriptive of our oldest son who has a mechanical engineering degree. I wonder if you wouldn’t mind elaborating on how you were able to change those behaviors.

45 and FIREcalc gives 78% success

Just a possible way you might make up the difference, ie work part time. I am very conservative financially so with an all in budget we went with a sub 3% withdrawal rate to start. That in firecalc gave us a 100% likelihood of success. It definitely worked out well for us and both our kids...

45 and FIREcalc gives 78% success

I was 43 when I ESRd. Almost 58 now and fully ERd at 54. I consulted about five hours a week on average while semi retired. This provided some extra spending money, a path to meet many new friends, and the ability to purchase the four social security credits per year needed to stay eligible...

ESPN+ is not the same as ESPN, really?

You are not alone. Found that out today also. Sling has a $10 for first month option that includes ESPN. I think you can cancel within seven days at no cost or before the end of the month to not pay the next month at full price.

Separate car insurance policy for adult child?

Just moved our oldest to his own policy. Grange was pretty reasonable at a little less than 10% more. I sleep better with this setup. It also helps teach life skills if you let them pay the premium.

Snowbirds: Are you a lone eagle or do you prefer to flock?

This is our first year snow birding in SW Florida. So far we really like the weather and fishing. Activities are limited due to COVID and I think we would really enjoy a lot of them. We would be flockers in normal times.

Origin of your ER.org user name?

My hobby was the inspiration for my name. The picture is a view from our first lake house. Now on our third one but it is our only home now.

RV Trip to Outer Banks, sights to see suggestions.

We recently sold our 13 year old camper and bought a new one. After a couple of local trips to check it out we are considering a longer trip. We have not been to many places in NC and have always wanted to go to the Outer Banks. Trip would start in TN to NC and then SC to Georgia and back...

I joined thirteen or so years ago. Still read topics of interest somewhat regularly and really appreciate all the wisdom here. This forum helped me to ESR back then and later to fully RE. It is the main forum I read. Thank you to all the posters who were so helpful.

    Archery

Built a bow for bow fishing this spring. Alligator gar is the target. Its a little challenging to hit a slow moving fish from a boat that is moving and to account for the depth of the fish but with practice it becomes instinctive.

    Chicken over Health Insurance

We ESR'D eleven years ago and purchased our own health insurance for the last twelve years. We were 41 then. It has been an emotional ride. One DW finally had enough of this year. She had previously worked a government job many years ago for a year and and a half and could go back for...
