RE'd July 2015 with 2 @ home. DD is a HS sr and headed to school next fall back east. DS is one year behind her.
DW and I made sure we had 2x (4 yrs private college) covered via UTMA and 529s before I bailed.
We will fund them 100% through undergrad (tuition, books, room and board, travel to/from home) .. but beer and Spring break $$ is on them .. as is grad school. Seems a fair trade for us.
