Are we retiring into a more hostile world (than our parents)?

1. Are you noticing this increased hostility level? Or am I paying too much attention to malcontents with keyboards?

....

Answering my own questions:
1. Obviously yes. ...

How is that a "Yes/No" question? It is two questions. I could have been a Yes/No or No/Yes, depending. My answer is:

1A: Yes, I am noticing this increased hostility level. But as others have mentioned, the media probably are just as hostile to other age groups. "Everyone is getting along just fine" and "No houses in our town burned down today" aren't catchy headlines.

1B: Yes, you are paying too much attention to malcontents with keyboards.

But while I would like to rent an upscale place in the city (Chicago, or maybe some other large city) for a year or two, maybe longer, I am concerned about something bad happening, and having an angry mob look at anyone with some wealth as "the enemy". It's far less likely for something like that to affect us out here in boring semi-rural-suburbia. I also think problems like that are more likely in a city that is far left/socialist - not being political, it's just those places seem to lean more to expressing anger to what they see as "class warfare". Where there any "occupy" camps in the more conservative cities?
