Hi cynical. Can I ask what persuaded you to push out your retirement date 6 months?
I’m currently pondering between March or September this year.
I will have a pension that will support me.
It’s just such a hard decision!

Hey y'all - so my layoff was officially deferred for 3 months, so my new severance end date is 7/15 and thankfully I will stop working 3/31. I am looking forward to what this year has to teach me!

Beginning to feel the delight/tension of my last year of work. I have adjusted my 403b contribution percentage to fund fully before my end date, and am devoting a percent of salary to a back-door Roth, to pump in some final retirement savings. The countdown to 10/01/21 begins.

Now my task is to stay focused, and to continue to contribute — and to quietly work my last days with as little stress as I can manage. I hope the world finds a reasonable new normal by the fall.

I could argue it either way I guess - my last work will be March but my last paycheck will be July...so why don't we say July since that's when the financial rubber hits the road

This will be the first time in 35+ years where I won't have a paycheck! Scary but exciting!

Just changed my 401k withholding so it maxes out by 31 Mar. The end is near.

hey corn, same situation for me...but my contribution max is 40% per pay period, so I won't max it out by the end of march. I can do 50% in my catch up, so that will be easy...of course I won't get paid for three months!

Well, my boss just announced her retirement, effective April. With that, they are going to reorganize our group, and essentially, my job has been eliminated. But instead of doing the right thing (in my opinion, of course) and offering me a healthy severance package, they're having me report to another person with duties as yet unknown. Frustrating! But may help make pulling the trigger this summer even easier.
