Well, to each his / her own on the whole flu shot thing. I'm kind of stunned that people don't get it. I didn't get one in my 30s, but that was just out of laziness and other things occupying my time. But now that I'm in my 50s, I can't imagine not protecting myself with such a simple and trivial event. Walked into CVS yesterday: "hey, when should I get my flu shot and shingles vaccine?" Rx: "well how about now? Name, DOB." No charge and I was out in about 4 minutes. Yes, my arm is sore.
Not getting a flu shot is like not wearing your seatbelt: "I'm a great driver. I always obey the speed limit. Never been in a wreck in my life. Always use my blinker." Wearing your seatbelt is unnecessary 99.9%-100% of the time, but that 0.1%, it sure comes in handy. If some random person is seriously injured or dies because they didn't want to wear a seat belt, then it's really them and their friends/family that have to deal with it. I just see it as senseless.
