Gas mileage question

Ethanol content will indeed affect mileage. Some gasoline has 0% ethanol while others contain up to 10% in regular or premium grade gasoline. I doubt that the station delivery driver mistakenly put 85% ethanol in the tank but that will decrease your mileage by 4 mpg. In a more extreme example, my car is outfitted to burn 85% ethanol and while that mix will produce more power and higher octane, it burns faster and results in a decrease of 4 mpg. I calculated that it has to be 70 cents less in price than regular to break even; that rarely happens so I'm back to using regular.

If it only happened once and things returned to normal afterward I'd just chalk it up to an unknown aberration and let it go at that.

Thanks for the information on Ethanol in our gasoline.

We will all be happy campers when 15% ethanol becomes common.:banghead:
