Jeremy Grantham On The Fall Of Civilizations (And Our Last Best Hope) | Zero Hedge

In addition to being a billionaire money manager, Grantham is a well known environmentalist. He sees 2 big things in our modern world that may make us more resilient then former civilization: birth rates voluntarily falling in most of the world ex-Africa, and falling costs of alternative energy sources such as solar and wind.

He looks at the problem of age top heavy societies as a one generation issue that is easily solved, at least relative to the Malthusian Death awaiting us if we do not manage to lower population growth more of less worldwide.

I am reading a very interesting and pessimistic book by William Ophuls named Immoderate Greatness, about trends that have in the past led to collapse of civilizations. Grantham cites some recently changed factors that he feels may moderate and perhaps prevent the collapse of our modern industrial civilization.

Strongly recommend reading it, and Ophuls' book too if you wish to devote the time.

Ha
