pill splitter: since most here "are of a certain age"

I have been using the Carex Health Brands splitter and it has worked fine for several years. I bought the "ultra" model which was a little pricey compared to the economy model, but what the heck, I can't take it with me, right?

My pill splitter sucks (it is for a pet). Vet told me sometimes you can break them in half more easily over a edge of a spoon. I needed quarters which seem to be a mess . . . But then I am the type who can make a mess out of nothing too.

Wish the razor blade was replaceable in the "close the lid" style. Even w/ the horizontal vee, pills tend to slide on the slick plastic. I put down a piece of tape & it helps a little.

Also, the vee should be more "forward" so that the blade does not contact the pill until the lid is almost horizontal. Or the blade could be angled to achieve a straight down motion.

Don't have a good solution for assymetrical, egg shaped pills either.
