RIP - Colin Powell

In deed we lost a Great American, we are left w/ more Bozos in the field.

Wow. Yes lost a great American.

Truly saddened to hear this news. He had my high admiration, and let me tell ya, I do not feel that way about many people. RIP, Colin Powell. When you spoke, I listened.

Very sad. He was the child of immigrants, so was a role model for me when growing up. I never got to meet him, but got to see his office in the Pentagon when I was there for a meeting., A co-worker, who was also from the Bronx as Colin Powell was, wrote him a letter and was surprised to receive a nice handwritten response. RIP.

Shocking and sad news. He seemed like such a beautiful human being.

RIP, a great American. Heard him speak several years ago at a company conference and he received thunderous applause. I am a bit surprised at the Covid implication given he was fully vaccinated and probably received the best care possible at Walter Reed.

Respected man throughout the DoD. I just talked to a colleague who was an E-1 when he worked for 4-star General Powell. He said he treated him like a fellow 4-star. A class act all around.

Just heard it too myself. Complications from Covid, though fully vaccinated. Much to ponder.

He also had multiple myeloma, a blood cancer, which can lower the immune system responses. People with underlying conditions like multiple myeloma and other conditions are at higher risk to covid, even if vaccinated.

He was a good man!

Sad to read about him this morning. I always thought he would have made a good Pres. I guess he was too smart to get into that line of work.

I dealt with him a couple of times in my military career, and he often came across as the smartest person in the room. Inspiring life story as well.

Powell has too much integrity to deal with dirty politics.

A man of integrity for sure. And re his death from COVID, this comment seems very relevant:

"Colin Powell had blood cancer (multiple myeloma) and was 84 - both conditions which decrease vaccination protection - which speaks not to the futility of vaccination, but rather to the importance of everyone getting vaccinated (and governments using all levers to affect same)."

"Powell had multiple myeloma, a cancer of plasma cells that suppresses the body's immune response, as well as Parkinson's, Peggy Cifrino, Powell's longtime chief of staff, confirmed to CNN. Even if fully vaccinated against Covid-19, those who are immunocompromised are at greater risk from the virus."

Old as well as immunocompromised.

A man of integrity and honor, who served his country well.
RIP sir, you did good.

His service will always provide illuminating lessons on how a man of integrity handles difficult choices. RIP

I always felt better knowing he had a voice in the room when weighty decisions were being made......however.....I'm unsure of his role in the lead up to the Iraq war. Esp looking backwards with no WMD. Duped is too strong a word but I felt like I could trust the decision if he was behind it.

RIP

What’s to ponder? Nothing IMO. An 84 year old severely immunocompromised cancer survivor with Parkinson’s.

Thanks for providing a more complete view, of a very distinguished public servant.
