Seeking Painting Equipment Recommendations (Long)

If using a lot of the same paint I would go with 5 gal buckets, don't have to worry about possible shade differences between gal cans. Best to use a paint mixer bit that attaches to a drill and a pour sprout that attaches to the 5 gal bucket, each a couple dollars.

And with paint cans of any size (well, except maybe quarts) ask them to use their paint-mixing machine to mix the paint, especially the 5-gallon size. Even if it's going to sit for a week or three that will make the final mix before you paint much easier, and it may mean you don't have to mix it at all.

Other than that I can't add anything that hasn't already been said.

Not sure our rotator cuffs are up to painting ceilings any more.

We would probably hire someone, if it has to be done.

We have the same issue which is why we bought the painting scaffolding, much easier on the arms and shoulders.

Unavailable at my local HD, and their site doesn't deliver this product. Menards is a midwestern chain and we're in FL...I found one for $500 on Ebay, which seems high. Will keep looking, because this looks like one terrific tool.

I also highly recommend buying a six foot utility scaffold with locking wheels. Menard's, Home Depot should have them for around 150-200 bucks. I can't tell you how much easier it makes painting ceilings and upper areas. Once you have painted with a scaffold you will never go back to a ladder...

Believe me you do want to pay for the scaffold it works for tricky lightbulbs and the kind of things where you don't want to worry about falling or losing your balance. Also keeps your calves and the balls of feet from getting sore.

Darn too bad, I can't tell you how many people have borrowed our unit...if you lived closer I'd let you borrow it too...

I see Home Depot.com has some of the MetalTech Brand yellow ones that are almost exactly like ours..some do say free delivery to store from where I'm looking anyway. They are in the 85 to 160 dollar range.

Good job hunting these down Walt34. I can't tell you how much we like this at our house. They are smaller, break down very nicely to store and go together quickly.

So if they are six foot, you're two foot from an 8 foot ceiling? Isn't that a bit too tall? Are they downward adjustable?

I think the scaffold is 6 feet wide. The platform looks like it's only 2 feet or so up. I'm 5 feet 7.5" and would be wielding - wielding, I say! a 3-foot extension pole, so two feet extra is plenty to help me get to 10 feet. I'd still have to go up on the stepladder to do the cutting-in, though.
