On RCL you pick the airline and the route . Our one way fare from Barcelona was $350 .We did up grade to premium economy for $600 . It was well worth it . We picked our seats and were in recliners for the flight with tons of extras.

As I say, we've never tried it, but as evidenced above there are conflicting opinions......as with all else...Caveat Emptor.
