Thinks s/he gets paid by the post
On Thursday, I got a call from a friend in CT, where I used to live. She told me that a mutual friend, S, died of a massive heart attack the day before. This was completely unexpected and she had no medical problems that had been detected.
S has been my friend for 15 years. We played racquetball together when I lived there, and stayed in touch after I left. We saw each other about 3-4 times a year, and emailed/talked quite often. She was a kind, loving, outgoing person who touched many lives.
I drove 300 miles Friday for the wake, funeral was Saturday, 300 miles back. That's a long time to be in the car by yourself when you are dealing with a loss such as this. It was a very tough trip for me, but at least I was able to try to comfort her husband and share memories of S with my other friends, and pray that she has found a better place.
I am stunned and saddened. She was only 43.
S, may you rest in peace.
