Too late to plan a March stay?

Spring training AZ puts upward $ pressure on rentals and certainly lowers inventory.

Well, after a long search, we have found 3 suitable condos in the Tucson area. The preferred condo is about $1000 more than the other two, so I've sent a message to see if they are willing to drop the rate by $500.

Other known costs:

Seasonal Golf Membership : Roughly $2000 plus cart fees
Fitness Center / Classes : $300
State Park Annual Pass: $75
National Park Pass: $80

Do you think a $500 deduction is reasonable?

Palm Springs, CA has wonderful hiking, pleasant weather, and you could probably find a vacation rental for a month in March.

I initially didn't even think of Palms Springs, but I agree that this would be a fantastic option for what OP describes he wants.

Depends if they think it's reasonable doesn't it? But I agree with just asking for a discount, doesn't hurt. Will you spend the extra 1000 if you have to?

They agreed to the $500 deduction and we are officially booked!

I want to thank everyone for your help. After being told of this surgery, I didn't think anything could possibly happen this year.

It's likely too late for most of my golf friends to show up in March, but that's ok. I have 2 kids that already sent me text messages saying they cant wait to show up for a few days.

You worked fast and found what you wanted where you wanted it. .Have a great time.

How much golf do you plan on playing in one month? The seasonal membership ($2K plus cart) seems steep if you'll only be there one month, unless that's for two people. You might want to wing it and use one of the online tee times (golfnow, teeoff). I'm familiar with most of the golf courses in Tucson if you have any questions.

I will be golfing ~ 15 times and will likely spend 1/2 hour almost daily on the range. It would be great if my wife golfed, but she doesn't. She might hang out at the range a few times.

As a side, she had a bad experience with her first round of golf. I was at Pinehurst and asked her to play. Since it was summertime, we assumed it would just be us. They paired us up with a Chicago Bears player and his wife. His wife had SIX holes in one in her life. Even though my wife just hit off the tee and decided to putt occasionally, she hated the experience so much that she refuses to ever play golf again.

I think it's important to do the membership so we can enjoy other club activities (pool, social hours, maybe pickleball?), and also for the convenience of keeping the clubs at the course so I can just show up on a bicycle. Their fitness center isn't great, so likely my wife will go somewhere else, but I want her to have the option.

Do you have a couple of favorites zinger?

Lastly, I likely won't sign on the bottom line for the course until the doc gives me the green light to swing again.

Dove Mountain is an upscale residential development, there are 3 courses there all very nice, a couple of them are resort style, the PGA Tour use to play their match play tournament there. Tucson National is very nice, two courses there, home to a Champions Tour event. Sewalilo is one of the newer courses, part of a Casino development on the SW side, home to the UA golf team. Other nice ones are Ventana Canyon, La Paloma, the Tucson muni courses aren't bad either, I'm sure I missed a couple.

Isla Mujeres. It's a small island 14 miles off the coast of Cancun. This is a beautiful, quiet island. All the crazies and BS stays on the mainland. We rented a room at an ocean front hotel I think it was called Cabanas Maria for $90/night. There is a lot to do or you could do nothing. Most people travel the island on golf carts. We met a few people from your region who were staying for an extended period, like 2-3 months.
