I used to curse online videos e.g. stories from newscasts when they continued playing when I switched to another tab (website) and I had to rush to mute the computer.
Now I've found a use for that feature. Youtube videos play to the end and then another automatically plays after that even when you've switched tabs to another website. I now have background music when browsing ER.......latest craze is Hawaiian steel guitar music.......and to avoid less desirable plays, there are concert videos that last 30-40 min that minimize the babysitting you need to do.
